“Ah! You’re Dio, the Evil Emperor with a 500 million Berry bounty!”

Makino suddenly remembered the newspaper and wanted poster she had recently seen.

“Five hundred million!” Luffy exclaimed in surprise, wondering who was stronger, this man or Shanks?

Ace wanted to leave, but he couldn’t bring himself to abandon Luffy and Makino.

“Didn’t the newspaper say you were in the South Blue?” Makino asked, confused.

Dio raised an eyebrow: “Let’s put that aside for a moment. I’m curious, why aren’t you, an ordinary person, afraid of me, a pirate?”

“Mr. Dio can calmly sit here and prepare to drink, so I imagine he’s not a very bad person,” Makino said with a smile.

“Yeah, yeah! Why be afraid of pirates? Shanks is really good!” Luffy blinked his eyes.

“Luffy!” Ace tugged at his silly younger brother.

“Why be afraid of pirates?” Dio scratched his cheek, seriously pondering the question.

“Hmm~ Because most pirates will burn, kill, and plunder, especially targeting weak civilians.”

“You’re talking nonsense! Shanks and his crew wouldn’t do such things!” Luffy said angrily.

Dio shrugged: “That’s why Red-Hair and his crew can become strong.”

“Wielding a blade against unarmed weaklings for the sake of desire, only low-level pirates would do that.”

“In this world, low-level pirates are as numerous as carp in a river, while those who dare to strike at the strong are few and far between.”

“You, do you know Shanks and his crew?” Luffy asked curiously.

Dio took the drink Makino offered him and said indifferently, “No, I’m not interested in Celestial Dragons.”

“Celestial Dragons? What are those?” Luffy looked puzzled.

Ace and Makino, however, gaped. Red-Hair Shanks is a Celestial Dragon?!

“Are you telling the truth?” Garp’s face was serious as he pushed open the door and entered.

Whoa! Garp heard it?

Dio penalized himself with a drink. Shanks, don’t blame me, it’s Garp’s fault.

“G-Grandpa!”

“Old man!”

Luffy and Ace jolted, just about to escape, when Garp grabbed each of them with one hand, holding them firmly.

Dio chuckled softly: “After the Battle of God Valley, Roger found Shanks among the treasures.”

“After that, he kept him by his side and meticulously nurtured him.”

“Do you think a child who could sleep among treasures is a Celestial Dragon or a slave?”

“Furthermore, Shanks’s family should still be in Mariejois…”

At this point, Dio sneered.

“Garp, asking so many questions won’t do your Marines any good. After all, they are your Marine’s masters.”

Hearing these words, Garp’s face turned extremely ugly, and his hands unconsciously tightened.

“Old man! Ow, ow, ow.”

“Grandpa~ Let go~”

Garp then remembered that Ace and Luffy were still in his hands and quickly released his grip.

Ace rubbed his red shoulders, observing Garp and Dio, because he had just heard the words “Roger.”

Was the Shanks that Luffy admired raised by his father… Roger?

Ace inexplicably developed a layer of dislike for Shanks.

Luffy tugged at his face, which had been squashed by his grandfather: “What are you talking about? Shanks is Shanks, and I’ll definitely go out to sea and see him someday!”

“Boom!”

Garp punched Luffy, knocking him out, and said in a huff, “Go out to sea! Go out to sea! Damn Red-Hair, it’s all your fault!”

Feeling Garp’s threatening gaze, Ace quickly sat up straight.

With a cold snort, Garp looked at Dio, no longer dwelling on the Celestial Dragon matter.

“How do you know these things?”

Dio shrugged: “I know many things, for example, the identity of this young friend beside you.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Dio felt a powerful pressure.

Garp said in a deep voice, “Are you here for him?”

Ace was surprised. This Dio knows his identity?

“Interested, but not much.” Dio and Garp engaged in a subtle power struggle.

“Just the Pirate King, that’s all.”

Garp narrowed his eyes: “What big talk!”

“You, fellow, why don’t you turn over a new leaf? I admire you very much.”

Dio shook his head and chuckled: “Don’t joke, Garp. If I became a Marine, sooner or later I’d kill the Celestial Dragons.”

Garp’s face stiffened… After a long while, he let out a sigh.

The Celestial Dragons were an insurmountable hurdle for the Marines.

After paying for the drinks, Dio picked up his jacket and draped it over his shoulder: “Want to go outside and chat, Vice Admiral Garp?”

Garp nodded, entrusting Makino: “I’ll leave these two to you, Makino.”

“Old man!” Ace was a little worried. He just remembered that the two people in front of him were one Marine and one pirate!

Garp didn’t look back, only leaving Ace with a waving back.

Dio and Garp walked one after another, without speaking, heading straight towards the sparsely populated forest.

After a long while, the two arrived deep within the dense forest.

“I want to make a deal with you, Vice Admiral Garp.” Dio slowly turned his head.

Garp’s face was expressionless: “I am a Marine.”

“But you are his grandfather.” Dio smiled faintly.

Garp was slightly moved: “What exactly do you want to say?”

“Garp, although you are a successful Marine, you are a failed father, a failed grandfather.”

Dio pointed to Garp’s heart: “You dedicated everything you had to the Marines.”

“But Dragon became the leader of the Revolutionary Army, and Luffy and Ace will eventually become pirates.”

“They won’t!” Garp rumbled, “I’ll make them Marines!”

Dio scoffed: “Do you believe that? Even if you force them to become Marines, they’ll rebel like Dragon.”

Garp’s fists clenched, turning white, but he couldn’t refute.

“When Ace embarks on his father’s path, when his identity is exposed, what do you think his fate will be?”

Garp closed his eyes, unwilling to answer.

“You teach me the Marine Six Powers, and I promise to help Ace on the day something happens to him.” Dio smiled faintly.

“After all, as a Marine, you can’t directly intervene.”

“Impossible!” Garp flatly refused.

“Not even as a grandfather?” Dio asked curiously.

“This is Marine property! No!” Garp had his principles.

Dio’s lips curled into a smile, revealing his true objective: “Then let’s exchange the Marine Six Powers for Haki Infusion.”

Garp’s eyes snapped open, and black and red Haki lightning exploded around his body.

“You scoundrel, so that’s what you wanted!”

“How about it?” Dio spread his hands: “Haki Infusion has nothing to do with the Marines. As a grandfather, don’t you want to do something for Ace?”

“Do you really want to watch Ace die with your own eyes?”

Garp was breathing heavily, his heart in turmoil…

After a long while.

Garp’s emotions stabilized: “The premise is that you survive.”

Dio narrowed his eyes: “It seems your Marines are going to make a move against us.”

“Alright, as long as I survive, you wait for me in Alabasta, okay?”

Garp said no more, turning and leaving, preparing to rendezvous with his soldiers.

Garp, as a grandfather, had completed his mission.

Now, Garp was a Marine hero!

Dio draped his jacket over his shoulders and looked up at the sky.

The sun had, at some point, hidden behind the clouds, and all the clouds had a dark hue.

The salty sea breeze rustled the leaves, and Dio felt a slight chill.

“A storm is coming.”
