Conan’s Unscientific Detective Chapter 055

The next day.

After a day of tracking an infidelity case, Fujino rushed to the set of “Threats in the Dark Smile.”

Originally, Fujino had wanted to decline this type of request.

However, when Yoko Okino mentioned that there was a 300, 000 yen commission and a Japanese-style hotel stay,

He immediately changed his mind.

A 300, 000 yen commission, although not a lot, was still a month’s salary for an above-average Japanese corporate slave.

Only an idiot would refuse a job where you could make money just by giving directions.

Actually, for him, money didn’t matter, and a high-end Japanese-style hotel didn’t matter either.

It was mainly Yoko Okino’s ‘sincere heart’ that touched him!

The shrine, illuminated by the twilight, and the mournful cries of crows came from afar.

The red glow of the setting sun illuminated Yoko Okino’s fair face, which was stained with mottled blood-red.

She stood in front of the shrine, clutching a blood-stained fruit knife, her gaze blank as she looked at the man lying on the ground in front of her. The blue dress she wore was already covered in blood.

The man wore a short-sleeved casual outfit, lying spread-eagled on the stone path of the shrine.

Blood continuously flowed from the stab wound on his chest, staining the surrounding stone slabs illuminated by the setting sun.

A moment later, the blank-faced Yoko Okino gradually came to her senses. The fruit knife in her hand dropped to the ground, and a look of astonishment appeared on her face.

“How could this happen? I clearly didn’t intend to kill him…”

She murmured, then slumped weakly to the ground, a tear spilling from her eye. A moment later, a heart-wrenching wail erupted.

“Cut!”

Just as Yoko Okino was wailing heart-wrenchingly, the director standing by suddenly shouted.

Then, he waved the script in his hand with a laugh, “Excellent! This scene is perfect! Yoko, your acting is superb!”

“As expected of a popular actress, you acted as if it were real.”

At this moment, Fujino was squatting on the stone steps nearby, idly observing the filming set.

When he heard that the filming had ended, he let out a long sigh, lamenting, “If someone didn’t know, they’d really think a murder had occurred.”

Hearing the director call cut, Yoko Okino couldn’t help but sigh in relief. Then, she bowed slightly to the ‘corpse’ in front of her, “Thank you very much for cooperating with the performance.”

“How could there be any problem with the performance of me, the handsome actor Natsuchi Shingo!”

Natsuchi Shingo, who played the corpse, stood up from the stone path, looking full of himself.

“What acting is needed to play a corpse?”

Fujino, watching this scene, looked speechless. He observed the conceited Natsuchi Shingo and muttered in a low voice, “I bet even if I just lay there, the scene would be completed, right?”

In fact, Fujino’s words were not at all false.

At least, he had indeed seen fresh corpses and knew what real dead people looked like.

But what the hell was that Natsuchi Shingo?

He had corrected that exaggerated acting countless times, but lying there, he still didn’t look like a dead person.

His acting was really too terrible, wasn’t it?

He really didn’t know how this guy managed to become an actor.

“Detective Fujino, how was that scene just now?”

At this moment, the director walked over and asked Fujino.

“It was alright, not outstanding, but it reached an excellent level…”

Fujino thought for a moment and replied, “If that conceited man could die a little more seriously, this scene would be almost perfect.”

“There’s no such thing as perfection in the world, you know.”

The director scratched the back of his head and sighed softly.

To be honest, he also saw that Natsuchi Shingo’s acting wasn’t very good.

He was practically dragging Yoko Okino down.

But there was nothing he could do; that guy was an actor designated by the investors.

If that guy didn’t come to film, the entire movie would be directly cut.

Fujino also expressed his understanding.

After all, sometimes when filming, directors are often at the mercy of others.

“Hey, do you want to have dinner with me tonight?”

“I think I’ll pass.”

“What’s the big deal? It’s just dinner.”

At this moment, a sound of flirting came from the side of the set.

“Seriously, that brat is hitting on Taeko again.”

“I’ll talk to you later, Detective Fujino, I’m going to smooth things over.”

The director complained, said goodbye to Fujino, and then turned around and walked towards Natsuchi Shingo, who was flirting with the female clapperboard operator, Taeko Domegaki: “No, Taeko is getting married to that guy next month…”

“Isn’t that right, Shimazaki?”

Saying that, he turned around and pointed behind him to a man in a white T-shirt with spiky hair.

The man’s name was Yuji Shimazaki, and he was the A.D., or assistant director, of this film, responsible for arranging the daily operations of the movie.

“Hmm, that’s right.”

Yuji Shimazaki scratched his hair awkwardly upon hearing this, a shy expression on his face.

“Someone about to get married looks like a flower… Hmph, but it’s hard to say what they’ll be like after marriage.”

At this moment, an unpleasant sound came.

Fujino looked in the direction of the sound and saw a rather unattractive man wearing a red hat put down his camera and sarcastically make cynical remarks.

“You’re full of crap!”

Yuji Shimazaki was enraged by the remark and rushed forward, intending to ‘reason’ with the man.

“Yuji, forget it.”

Taeko Domegaki quickly stopped him, “We’re getting married next month, don’t stir up trouble.”

“Who told that guy to always say such annoying things!”

Yuji Shimazaki clenched his fists, glaring angrily at the man.

It was no wonder he was angry; if a normal person who was about to get married heard such words, they would definitely lose their temper.

“I wasn’t targeting you two.”

The man showed a smug expression, “Or are you two just taking it personally? Hahahaha!”

“Gah gah gah!”

At this moment, a chilling sound rang out. Then, the man raised his wrist, showing off a skull watch, and boasted to everyone, “I bought this from America last month. How about it, isn’t it interesting?”

“This guy must be the victim this time…”

Beside him, Fujino muttered as he watched the man.

That guy was named Morio Anzai, the assistant cinematographer for this film, with an annoying face.

He had even made sarcastic remarks to Fujino when he first arrived.

“What does someone else’s married life have to do with you?”

Putting away his thoughts, Fujino slowly stood up, “Speaking of which, you look like you’re almost thirty, don’t you have a girlfriend yet?”

“It must be hard for an unattractive street loafer like you to find a girlfriend… You’re such a grown-up, and you’re still wearing a childish watch like that.”

“What did you say?!”

Morio Anzai immediately flared up, his true nature as a loafer completely exposed. He came forward, ready to ‘reason’ with Fujino.

“Oh dear, I’m so sorry I hit a sore spot. Are you angry?”

Fujino had a faint, fake smile on his face. Seeing that Morio Anzai wanted to make a move, he immediately said in a deep voice, “But then again, if it gets out that someone attacked a famous detective on a film set, someone’s reputation could be ruined, couldn’t it?”

“Hmph!”

Morio Anzai suppressed his dissatisfaction upon hearing this, snorted, and fled the scene.
