The Adventurers’ Guild in Grayrock Town was a three-story building made of stone.

Walk straight to the end of the town’s main street, and directly opposite the square, a building painted with bright red paint was the Adventurers’ Guild’s station.

On the pointed archway, the sword-and-shield-and-staff flag representing the Adventurers’ Guild fluttered in the wind, with adventurers constantly entering and exiting from below.

In the more than a year since he arrived in the town, Gauss had never been inside, at most, he would sneak a few quick glances inside when passing by the door.

The reason the original owner dared not enter was not because the Adventurers’ Guild had any restrictions on visitors’ identities, but simply due to an inferiority complex.

The previous owner always felt that only powerful adventurers and professionals could step inside, and casually venturing in might attract questions or strange looks from others.

Under the gaze of the two guards in elite light armor at the entrance, Gauss walked in calmly, just like any other adventurer.

The first floor was a public hall, similar to the service hall of a public institution in Gauss’s previous life.

The hall was bustling with people, adventurers carrying various weapons and armor gathered in groups of two or three, exchanging conversations.

“There aren’t any decent quests today, are there?”

“The last time I chopped that gnoll, my sword got dull, and the quest reward wasn’t even enough to repair my weapon. What a loss.”

“Goblins, though they seem weak, are completely different when their numbers exceed three. You must be careful.”

“…”

Gauss turned his head, observing the hall’s environment.

He even saw several non-pure human races, such as half-orcs, gnomes, and dwarves, though humans were, of course, the most numerous adventurers.

His gaze moved away from the crowd, and he looked at the surrounding facilities.

A semicircular counter arched around the hall, where several receptionists sat.

Besides the inquiry counter, various quest information was also posted on the notice boards on the surrounding walls.

“Common Material Quest: Submit Slime Cores, obtained from Slime monsters. Quest Reward: 3 silver coins/5 Slime Cores. This quest is long-term.”

“Common Material Quest: Bloodtooth Fern, requires the plant to retain its vitality when submitting. Quest Reward: 50 copper coins/plant.”

“…”

Quests covered several walls, making Gauss dizzy, so he chose to go directly to the front desk to inquire about the requirements for taking quests.

The sweet-faced receptionist lady stood properly behind the counter.

“Hello, I’m Receptionist Petra, employee ID E 21051. How may I help you?” she said energetically, a well-trained smile perfectly gracing her face.

“This is my first time here. May I ask what requirements I need to meet to take a quest?”

“A new adventurer? Then you need to register as a personal adventurer first. Oh, right…”

“The registration fee is 1 silver coin. Is that acceptable?”

“Yes.” Gauss took out a silver coin from his pocket, secretly relieved that he had sold the goblin ornament a few days ago; otherwise, he wouldn’t even be able to pay this registration fee, which would have been embarrassing.

“Alright, then please fill out this adventurer registration form.”

“Thank you.” Gauss took the form Petra handed him and quickly scanned it.

Besides name, age, basic physical information, and permanent address, he also needed to fill in his proficient weapons or skills.

After filling it out truthfully, Gauss handed the form back to the receptionist.

“Then I’ll register you now.”

She quickly operated her hands under the counter, and within a few seconds, she took out a white badge.

“This is your personal identification and adventurer rank proof. You’ll need to present this badge when taking and submitting quests in the future. Please keep it safe; a replacement costs 1 silver coin if lost.”

Gauss took it, turned it over, and examined it carefully. This rhomboid badge was made of a white metal, with exquisite plant patterns carved on its surface, and the craftsmanship was quite good.

“Miss Petra, I’d like to take on some combat quests involving goblins, preferably with fewer monsters.” After completing the procedures, Gauss directly asked.

The reason he continued to target goblins was, firstly, that ordinary goblins were the most common low-level monsters, and secondly, out of habit. He had already killed one goblin, so he felt more confident facing this type of monster again.

He hadn’t fought other monsters before, and merely looking at their names didn’t tell him their specific strength.

“Goblins, let me see.” The receptionist thought for a moment, then pointed Gauss to a wall.

“That wall has some goblin quests posted, but the numbers are usually in the double digits or more. If there are too few, villagers generally won’t pay quest fees to post them.”

Petra’s implication was that too few goblins didn’t pose a temporary threat to villages, so there were naturally no such quests available.

After thanking the receptionist, Gauss went to the area she pointed to.

Indeed, that wall was covered with many combat quests, and goblin-related quests were thoughtfully posted in an adjacent area.

[Common Bounty Quest]

Quest Reward: 10 silver coins.

Quest Description: The sheepfold in Birch Village has been attacked by a group of goblins. Please help the villagers eliminate the goblin tribe lurking near the village. The goblin count is approximately 10- 15.

Quest Item Submission: Complete goblin left ear.

Quest Duration: 5 days.

[Common Bounty Quest]

Quest Reward: 50 copper coins/per.

Quest Description: Assist the guards in clearing and eliminating goblins wandering on the main road from the town to Emerald Forest. This quest is long-term.

Quest Item Submission: Complete goblin left ear.

Quest Duration: Long-term

There were quite a lot of quests involving goblins.

This was natural; as the only Adventurers’ Guild in the surrounding area, all quests from villages and outposts within its jurisdiction would be submitted here.

And goblins were one of the most common types of monsters, with attacking villages and robbing merchant caravans being their main daily activities.

Gauss looked around, his brow furrowing involuntarily.

It was just as the receptionist had said.

There were no quests for lone goblins, which he wanted. Besides some long-term quests without precise locations, the common goblin groups causing disturbances were usually in the double digits or more.

And currently, even with a 0-level cantrip, Mage Hand, he couldn’t handle double-digit goblins yet.

Just as he was pondering, he suddenly heard a hushed conversation beside him.

He didn’t intend to eavesdrop, but he happened to hear the word “goblin.”

“Birch Village is a bit far…”

“Seven, eight goblins, can we handle them?”

“Don’t worry, goblins are common fodder. I can take them out with one arrow each.”

“…”

The conversing team consisted of one male and two females, all appearing to be around 18 years old.

The woman with long, curly brown hair, wearing form-fitting light armor, had a bow on her back and a dagger tucked into the side of her tall boots. She had a sharp demeanor and seemed to be the leader of the conversation, standing with hands on her hips, encouraging her two companions.

The other girl seemed much less confident, with short black bangs covering her eyebrows and shifty eyes. She had two daggers at her waist.

The last young man leaned against a pillar with a blank expression, arms crossed, a long sword hanging at his side.

Just by their equipment, all three looked more impressive than Gauss, at least wearing bright, new leather and light armor. Their weapons also appeared pristine.

However, they looked a bit too new, showing virtually no signs of prolonged use.

Are they also new, like me? Gauss noticed this detail, silently thinking to himself.

Have they already taken a goblin quest?

The archer girl held a quest slip in her hand.

Seven or eight goblins, fewer than the numbers on the wall, and as a team, while the money would be less, it would also be relatively safer.

He, as a self-proclaimed mage, would certainly need a frontline.

After a moment of thought, Gauss walked up and greeted them proactively.

“Hello, my name is Gauss. I’m a new adventurer. Is your team looking for more members?”

[Fantasy world, slow-paced adventure, wizard, monster encyclopedia collection] Coming to a fantasy world, Gauss got an adventurer's handbook that said the more monsters you kill and collect, the stronger you will be. He originally thought that he would start an orthodox adventure of defeating dragons, killing demons, and saving the kingdom. However, as he watched the goblins multiplying like pests and being inexorable, as well as the rapidly increasing number of kills and rewards in the monster encyclopedia, his face became more and more helpless... "You have killed a total of 1,000 goblins! Intelligence +1, Strength +1, Constitution +1." "The title "Goblin Slayer" has been upgraded to "Goblin Expert". You are an expert on goblins, and few people know how to kill goblins better than you." "..." "The title "Goblin Expert" has been upgraded to "Goblin Nemesis". You are the most severe ruler of the goblin race in history, and a deep shadow of terror engraved in the goblin blood." "Current effect: Effect 1: Nemesis. When fighting against Goblin creatures, the damage caused by attacks is increased by an additional 50%. Effect 2: Bloodthirst. Killing a Goblin has a chance to randomly restore 10% of your physical strength. Effect 3: Deterrence. You have absolute pressure on Goblins and related advanced races, and the enemy's status will be greatly reduced when facing you. Looking at the titles that are still being upgraded on the panel, Gao Si really wants to know if there is any way to prevent people from putting the title of "Goblin Slayer" before the famous titles such as Dungeon Conqueror, Red Scale Slayer, Phase Hunter, Pale Lord, and Tiamat's Woe.
