Konoha: Naruto will win no matter what choice he makes! Chapter 127

“In this era of rapid development of magic-driven technology, the magic of the old era has been gradually abandoned.”

“But that doesn’t mean we no longer use magic.”

Professor Kazel flicked his finger, and a wisp of flame appeared at his fingertip.

The flame grew with the wind, transforming into a magic wand.

With another gentle flick, it turned into a thin card.

He then blew on it, extinguishing it, in a way that was outrageously cool.

“Learning magic is incredibly difficult and tedious. Most mages spend their entire lives only learning how to cast a single fireball spell. We usually call them magic apprentices, but magic apprentices were already very valuable in the previous generation.”

“Chanting incantations and drawing magic power are just one part of casting a spell.”

“To truly cast a fireball, you must know how a fireball is produced, why it can burn, what the medium of combustion is, the connection between magic power and flame, the law of temperature change of the flame, how long it can last…”

Professor Kazel explained in great detail.

So detailed that the little Archmages’ heads were about to explode.

Dark saw Diana already clutching her head and趴on the table, probably with little circles spinning in her eyes.

Fortunately, a few minutes later, Professor Kazel gently ended the topic of old-era magic with a flick of his wrist.

“But with the development of magic-driven technology, we have solved this problem.”

“As long as we write the corresponding incantations using magic-driven language, and then brand the incantations into cards, making them into complete magic cards, we can activate them through simple summoning spells, thereby releasing magic.”

“Of course, magic-driven language is a course you will only learn in your second year.”

“Magic-driven language varies from person to person, involving a great many factors.”

“The same fireball spell, when written by different Archmages, will result in different incantations.”

“However, there are also some special incantations that are universal.”

“Before learning magic-driven language, we can try to make simple magic cards by transcribing these universal incantations.”

“Now, turn to the appendix at the end of your textbook.”

The students then followed Professor Kazel’s instructions and turned to the appendix page at the end of their textbooks.

[Appendix 1. Universal Incantations]

① Magic Bullet Spell

② Push Spell

③ Obstacle Spell

④ Fade Spell

⑤ Flicker Spell

The appendix page of “Basic Magic-driven Theory 1” recorded a total of five universal incantations.

This was the content that first-year students needed to learn.

“Magic Bullet Spell, Push Spell…”

Dark looked at the appendix with some surprise. These five universal incantations were quite different from what he had imagined for beginner content.

“Normally, shouldn’t it be Fireball Spell 1, Fireball Spell 2, Fireball Spell 3… like that?”

It seemed most students shared his thought.

The students flipped through the table of contents, unable to resist whispering among themselves.

Professor Kazel looked at the students discussing quietly, and instead of getting angry, a slight smile appeared on his face.

He reached out and pressed his hand down, then said, “Although these five universal incantations seem basic, they are important incantations that can accompany an Archmage throughout their life. In time, you will naturally discover their importance. In today’s class, we will only discuss the principles, not conduct experiments. Formal experiments will take place next Monday. And starting this month, professors will no longer provide material packs for experiments; you will need to find the material list yourselves and purchase them with your own academic credits.”

Compared to the confusion brought by the universal incantations, Professor Kazel’s last sentence clearly had a greater impact on the students.

After a brief silence, the classroom suddenly became noisy.

A girl immediately raised her hand and asked, “Professor, what if we don’t have enough academic credits and can’t afford the materials?”

Professor Kazel said kindly, “Professors will estimate your existing academic credits when assigning homework. As long as you listen carefully in class and complete your homework on time, there won’t be a problem with insufficient academic credits.”

Another student keenly read the implication in Professor Kazel’s words and asked in astonishment, “Professor, does that mean that starting today, there will be experimental homework?”

Professor Kazel nodded and said, “Actually, there already has been. The creation of [Magic Beasts] falls into this category.”

Immediately after, several students raised their hands to ask questions, and Professor Kazel answered each one.

After all the questions were asked, the little Archmages finally despaired.

It seemed that from today onwards, not only could they no longer loaf around, but they also had to learn to be thrifty.

Emma, sitting in the first row, looked calm.

Witt, in the last row, excitedly high-fived Robert.

Dark, by the window, faced Diana’s pitiful gaze and said mercilessly, “Solve it yourself.”

Diana could only count on her fingers the expenses she had to save.

Rose chuckled from the side.

In fact, they had all gained quite a few academic credits from the masquerade ball, and as long as they didn’t spend lavishly, their finances were quite comfortable.

In the following class, Professor Kazel meticulously taught the principles and methods of branding incantations onto magic-driven cards.

But the students were no longer in the mood to listen, merely numbly taking notes.

Aside from reminding the students not to forget to buy materials on Traveler Street over the weekend, Professor Kazel did not add any more homework.

“Ding-a-ling.”

The bell for class dismissal rang.

Once the professor left the classroom, the students’ emotions instantly exploded.

The classroom was filled with various cries of despair.

Originally, many had been looking forward to the history of magic class taught by the headmaster in the afternoon, but now they had no mood for it at all.

Dark smiled faintly, packed his things, and prepared to leave the classroom.

But just as he was about to stand up, Emma appeared in front of him.

Emma clutched her notebook and whispered, “You said you’d let me copy.”

Dark immediately remembered what happened last night and said, “Tonight. I’ll bring it to the library.”

“Okay!” Emma softly responded and quickly left.

Diana glanced at Emma, then leaned close to Rose’s ear and whispered, “Let’s go to the library tonight too!”

Rose nodded, “It’s a good time to finish the homework Professor Lily assigned.”

Dark, upon leaving the classroom, did not go to the cafeteria.

He knocked on Professor Kazel’s office door and asked, “Professor, is this a good time?”

The professor nodded slightly and pointed to the sofa.

Dark sat on the sofa and skillfully brewed tea.

Professor Kazel sighed and suddenly said, “Dimon, I’m truly sorry.”

Dark was stunned, then smiled, “Professor, it’s not me you need to apologize to.”

A trace of sadness appeared on Professor Kazel’s face, “For so many years, I’ve felt so guilty. If I had been more resolute in stopping them from entering the ancient temple back then, nothing would have turned out this way. When I learned of Didi’s goal to create the Tear of the Goddess, I couldn’t bear to stop her. Thankfully, you were there.”

Dark said helplessly, “I wasn’t talking about her either.”

Professor Kazel nodded, “I know.”

Dark: “Let’s change the subject. Professor, I want to know what’s special about the castle’s location, and what is the historical imaging?”
