In Marvel, people are slime Chapter 131

The second day after Christmas, a rainy day.

From 1 PM onwards, Malibu was enveloped in a storm throughout the afternoon. The sky was overcast and dim, and the sea was shrouded in a heavy curtain of rain, with visibility limited to mere tens of meters.

This was not good weather for flying.

But amidst the roaring waves and howling winds, a faint engine sound stubbornly rose, a single white light flying isolated from the sea, reaching the mountaintop in the pouring rain.

Two people in raincoats disembarked from the helicopter and entered the villa. Then the helicopter took off again, disappearing into the pitch-black rain curtain.

Alice had gone to New York early in the morning to spend time with her parents, leaving Laymu alone in the vast villa.

Living room.

Laymu gestured for the arriving Nick Fury to sit opposite him, while Hill, who had accompanied Fury, stood behind him.

Laymu politely handed Fury a bottle of mineral water, its cap still sealed.

“You came in such heavy rain? By helicopter?”

Fury smiled meaningfully, “Precisely because of the heavy rain, I had to come.”

“Cut the crap.”

Laymu shook his head, glancing disdainfully at the enigmatic Fury, “Why are you looking for me today? The esteemed Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. personally seeking my technical advice… Do you even understand technology?”

Fury personally took the mineral water, personally opened the cap, personally poured the water into his mouth, and personally swallowed it.

He let out a long sigh, “How much do you know about the Helicarrier?”

“A big toy that can fly?”

“Then you probably don’t understand its power.”

Nick Fury’s face was already very dark, so it was hard to tell if it had gotten any darker.

“Regarding the Helicarrier, we have a plan – Project Insight.”

He leaned forward, adopting an air of sharing a secret, “We are building three new Helicarriers… Just three, and they can deter anyone on Earth, monitor, stop, and control any criminal activity and criminals.”

Under Nick Fury’s signal, the beautiful agent Hill took out her laptop from her waterproof backpack, opened it, and placed it in front of Laymu.

Inside was a data model of a Helicarrier, its deck densely packed with Quinjets, and beneath the carrier, a staggering 350 machine guns.

Fury leaned back on the sofa and continued, “They are equipped with anti-gravity engines provided by Stark, allowing them to remain in sub-orbit indefinitely, never needing to land even once from deployment to retirement. They are also configured with countless long-range precision machine guns, capable of eliminating a thousand people in one minute.”

“Through the cross-coverage of the three Helicarriers, similar to satellites, their firepower can simultaneously lock onto targets across the entire Earth. Combined with target-locating satellites and a data analysis network, they can kill any terrorist before they even step out of their house.”

“We can nip any threat in the bud before it even emerges.”

Laymu nodded inexplicably, “Isn’t that good?”

Although this was one of Hydra’s conspiracies to rule the world, on the surface, it did seem to make some sense.

Nick Fury’s face suddenly darkened. He looked at the other party solemnly, “But… what if one day the muzzles are pointed at you and me?”

The sharp glint in his single eye and his pursed lips indicated he wasn’t joking, and his slightly accelerated breathing revealed a certain worry and urgency within him.

Agent Hill, standing behind him, also had a solemn expression.

The heavy rain outside the window grew louder. Suddenly, a blinding flash of lightning lit up, and the thunder rumbled into the living room two or three seconds later.

Laymu frowned. He slightly raised his head, his golden-amber eyes meeting Nick Fury’s without blinking.

The so-called ‘Project Insight’ was essentially a conspiracy by Pierce, the head of Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D., to rule and deter the world.

According to the original timeline, Nick Fury shouldn’t have known about the problems with this plan at this point.

As for Pierce, he was the one who, after the alien battle in New York, came out clamoring to detain Loki and the Tesseract. Don’t let him seem like a clown back then; in reality, he was a council member, Fury’s superior, and the true controller of Hydra’s S.H.I.E.L.D. branch.

Laymu suddenly smiled indifferently.

Who cares, anyway, for his current self, Pierce posed no threat.

No matter how Fury discovered the problem, or how he discovered it ahead of time, he would just deal with the person who caused the problem when he had time.

“Don’t look so nonchalant. It might not be a big deal for you superhumans, but what about the others around you?”

Fury looked at him somewhat reproachfully, annoyed by the indifferent smile on Laymu’s face.

Laymu nodded perfunctorily, “Yes, yes, you’re right… Let’s get to the point. You went to all this trouble, not only making an appointment in advance but also coming to my humble abode in this storm. Surely it’s not just to scare me with the Helicarrier?”

“Hill, show him what we’ve found.”

Fury raised his chin. Agent Hill responded and stepped forward, switching the content on the laptop screen to columns of data and structural diagrams.

“Years ago, we discovered a sum of 1.3 billion dollars that vanished into thin air, and we haven’t found any clues to this day. However, by scrutinizing S.H.I.E.L.D.’s internal financial flows, we’ve found many issues.”

Fury pointed to the screen, motioning for him to look, and then said, “Do you remember an agent once looking for your girlfriend? That was actually not my order; someone acted on their own.”

“Also, during the Battle of New York, Loki, who was imprisoned on the Helicarrier, was privately released.”

“I couldn’t find any clues, nor any records in surveillance or instruments.”

“All of this indicates an undercurrent within S.H.I.E.L.D. that I can’t see… They’ve been doing whatever they want right under my nose, God knows how many ‘beneficial acts for the nation and people’ they’ve done, and I’ve been completely unaware!”

At this point, Fury stiffened his neck, gritting his teeth.

Laymu nodded blankly, so that was what it was; it was the butterfly effect caused by him that made Nick Fury detect the presence of Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D. earlier.

“So…”

Fury’s single eye looked at Laymu, filled with sincerity, “So, I’ve come to ask for your help.”

“I can’t see with both eyes now. I don’t know who around me is an enemy, nor do I know who is a friend.”

“You trust me that much?”

“Because you’re not from Earth, and you’ve only recently arrived. You’re the least likely person to be involved in all of this.”

Laymu looked deeply at Nick Fury, “Then I really thank you for your trust.”

He deliberately emphasized the word “trust.”
