You helped him have a baby, what do you regret about the divorce? Chapter 107

“No problem, leave it to me.” Lin Gengjin made an “OK” gesture, a slight smile playing on his lips.

He quickly brainstormed, “You can walk slowly along the stream from over there, then cross the bridge. You can lean on the railing and enjoy the scenery, or look at the flowers. Just be natural, and I’ll capture the moments.”

Liu Jiajia quickly got into character. She was already naturally beautiful, and with her relaxed mood, she appeared even more vibrant and natural in front of the camera.

She walked slowly by the stream, a gentle breeze rustling a few strands of her hair, the sunlight outlining her soft silhouette.

She reached the bridge, leaned on the railing, and gazed out, a faint smile on her lips, her eyes clear, as if she had merged with the tranquil scenery.

Lin Gengjin held the stabilizer, sometimes moving, sometimes half-crouching, searching for the best shooting angle. He was focused, his fingers deftly operating the phone screen, adjusting the focus and parameters.

In the sunlight, the lines of his serious profile were particularly distinct.

Liu Jiajia occasionally caught a glimpse of him working out of the corner of her eye, and an unusual feeling stirred in her heart.

This man, who could stand up when faced with unpleasantness, was now immersed in something he enjoyed. That focus and composure had an inexplicable allure.

“Okay, Jiajia, look this way,” Lin Gengjin adjusted his angle. “Imagine you’ve spotted a particularly beautiful fish in the water. Give me a surprised expression.”

Liu Jiajia suppressed a laugh, trying her best to make the expression he requested, but her eyes still held a hint of mischief.

“Hmm… the surprise is there, but the fish doesn’t seem to believe it.” Lin Gengjin put down his phone and chuckled.

“The director’s demands are too high!” Liu Jiajia feigned a complaint, but her tone was filled with laughter.

“Let’s try another one,” Lin Gengjin raised his equipment again. “This time, you see a very cute little duck.”

She cooperatively looked towards the water. Suddenly, a loud “Quack!” echoed from nearby. A plump mallard duck flapped its wings, waddling out of the reeds and rushing towards the water, its movements quite comical.

Liu Jiajia was momentarily stunned by this sudden “actor,” then she couldn’t help but burst into laughter, her smile bright and uninhibited, like a flower blooming under the sun.

Lin Gengjin, quick as a flash, steadily captured the entire scene.

“Haha, this is good, this is natural!” He watched the playback, nodding with satisfaction. “This duck is a special guest. We’ll add a drumstick to its reward later.”

Liu Jiajia also leaned over to take a look. In the footage, she was laughing so hard she was doubled over. Although it was a bit “unbecoming,” that genuine joy was incredibly infectious.

She rubbed her aching cheeks sheepishly. “You really captured that.”

“These are the most precious shots,” Lin Gengjin said gently, his eyes filled with a smile.

The shooting continued. Lin Gengjin then guided Liu Jiajia to do a few simple interactions in front of the flower bed, such as lightly sniffing a flower or gently touching its petals.

He noticed that Liu Jiajia was becoming more relaxed in front of the camera and increasingly understood his intentions. She often extended his simple instructions into small, life-like gestures that made the footage more vivid.

Once, to capture a low-angle shot, Lin Gengjin knelt on one knee, looking up to film. When he stood up, he lost his balance, stumbled, and almost fell to the ground.

“Be careful!” Liu Jiajia instinctively reached out to help him.

Lin Gengjin quickly regained his balance, scratching his head a little awkwardly. “It’s nothing, nothing. Mother Earth is too enthusiastic; she wanted to give me a hug.”

Liu Jiajia looked at his slightly disheveled yet composed appearance and couldn’t help but laugh again, her clear laughter echoing through the park.

Lin Gengjin also laughed along, the previous tension and unpleasantness seemingly completely washed away by the relaxed atmosphere.

He found that he really liked seeing her laugh like that—genuine and unburdened.

After a segment of shooting, Lin Gengjin suggested they take a break. They sat side by side on a stone bench by the bridge, and he played back some of the clips he had just filmed for Liu Jiajia.

“Look at this shot; the lighting and your state at the time are particularly good,” Lin Gengjin pointed to one of the frames. It was Liu Jiajia standing on the bridge, the breeze blowing through her long hair, with blurred weeping willows and shimmering water in the background. The scene was beautiful.

Liu Jiajia looked at herself on the phone screen, a little surprised. “Wow, it looks so different when filmed! Much better than I imagined. You’re quite good at shooting!”

“Just a little bit, just a little bit,” Lin Gengjin said modestly, but the smile in his eyes couldn’t be hidden. Being praised, especially by her, made him feel exceptionally pleased.

“This one,” Liu Jiajia pointed to the NG shot that was interrupted by the duck, “even though it was an accident, it looks quite interesting.”

“Indeed, the little episodes in life are often the most touching,” Lin Gengjin said. “Many times, the perfection we deliberately pursue isn’t as good as this kind of unexpected authenticity.”

Liu Jiajia nodded thoughtfully, her gaze shifting from the screen to Lin Gengjin, carrying a hint of curiosity and admiration. “You seem to have a lot of insight into these things.”

Lin Gengjin smiled. “Not really insight, I just like to ponder things randomly.”

The warm sunlight shone on both of them, and the earlier gloom had long since dissipated.

Lin Gengjin checked the time, stood up, and stretched. “It’s getting late, and my stomach must be protesting. Shall we go to the county town for lunch?”

Liu Jiajia also stood up, stretching her slightly numb legs. “Sure, I’ll follow your lead.” She wasn’t familiar with the area and was happy for someone to guide her.

The county town wasn’t large, and the streets were relatively clean. Lin Gengjin didn’t have much experience with food either, so he instinctively chose a clean-looking home-style restaurant that seemed to have a decent crowd.

They ordered a few local specialties. The taste wasn’t amazing, but it was palatable. During the meal, they chatted about the day’s filming, the atmosphere relaxed.

Lin Gengjin occasionally told some funny anecdotes about photography, and Liu Jiajia listened with great interest, often being amused by his dry humor.

After the meal, it was still early. Lin Gengjin suggested, “Want to just walk around?”

“Mm.” Liu Jiajia readily agreed. Although it was pleasant in the park during the day, she also wanted to see the character of this small county town.

They walked side by side down the not-so-wide street. Streetlights lit up one by one, casting a gentle orange glow over the small town. Pedestrians walked in twos and threes, at a slow pace, completely different from the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Passing by a few women’s clothing stores, seasonal clothes were displayed in the windows. Lin Gengjin’s steps suddenly slowed, his gaze pausing on a light blue dress in one shop window.

He turned his head to Liu Jiajia. “Want to go in and take a look?”

Liu Jiajia was a little surprised, instinctively waving her hand. “No need, I don’t usually…”

"Repay a favor? You call this repaying a favor?" Lin Gengjin stood up suddenly, and the chair he brought over hit the floor with a "bang", making a dull loud noise that was particularly harsh in this quiet room. He stared at Su Xinyue, his eyes seemed to be spewing fire, his fingertips were slightly white due to extreme anger, and even trembled uncontrollably. "Su Xinyue, are you crazy? In order to repay that so-called favor, you want to give birth to a child for Zhao Ziyu? What's in your mind? Paste or shit?" "Husband, don't be angry, listen to me..." Su Xinyue quickly explained, "Su Xinyue, what do you think of me, Lin Gengjin? A dispensable decoration? A chess piece that you can sacrifice at will!" Lin Gengjin interrupted her, his voice hoarse due to anger, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, with a strong sense of disbelief and heartache. Su Xinyue also stood up, like a lioness forced into a corner. Her usually gentle eyes were now filled with stubbornness and determination, as if she had become a different person. Her eyes were frighteningly red, as if she had just experienced a heart-wrenching cry, or like bloodshot rabbit eyes, covered with dense bloodshot, revealing a desperate madness. "Husband, you don't understand anything at all! Do you think I am thinking? If it hadn't been for Zhao Ziyu, what would have happened to me now? I might have been killed by those little gangsters... by them... Now he is begging me in front of me, asking me to help him, how can I bear to refuse?"
