You helped him have a baby, what do you regret about the divorce? Chapter 065

That video actually went viral!

The viewership had already surpassed 10, 000, likes were over a hundred, and comments were in the dozens. His follower count had increased by several hundred overnight.

He quickly clicked on the comment section. Most of the comments were positive.

“This place is so beautiful!”

“The young lady is so pretty, her smile is so healing!”

“This is true rural life, I’m so envious!”

“Are the blogger and the young lady a couple? They look so good together!”

“Please give me the young lady’s Douyin ID!”

Lin Gengjin paused when he saw the last few comments. He hadn’t expected people to misunderstand his relationship with Zhang Lihua. He quickly sent Zhang Lihua a WeChat message, telling her the video had gone viral and about the comments.

Zhang Lihua quickly replied: “Hahahaha! Good that it went viral! See, I told you, it’s more engaging with people in it! As for the comments, just ignore them, netizens love to guess randomly.”

Lin Gengjin breathed a sigh of relief.

The video’s popularity gave Lin Gengjin immense encouragement. For the first time, he truly felt that what he was doing was recognized and could attract attention. This gave him a much greater sense of accomplishment than sending out hundreds of resumes with no response.

He began to take his Douyin account more seriously. He replied to some comments, thanking everyone for their likes.

He started thinking about future video content, how to maintain popularity, and how to attract more followers. He realized that the appearance of people was one of the keys to the video’s success.

After Zhang Lihua left, he tried filming some videos of himself cooking country dishes alone, or recording his parents cooking. The viewership improved compared to before, but it was far less than the one with Zhang Lihua in it.

He began to consider whether he could frequently invite Zhang Lihua to the village to play and film videos together. He was a little worried about bothering her, but he really couldn’t bear to part with this “secret” that made his videos popular.

He sent Zhang Lihua a WeChat message, asking if she was free recently, wanting to invite her to play again and film some videos together.

Zhang Lihua replied readily: “No problem! When? I really like coming to the village, it feels relaxing. And filming together is quite fun too.”

Lin Gengjin was very happy and they arranged for this weekend.

Over the next few days, Lin Gengjin continued to submit resumes (though not as diligently as before) while brainstorming content for his next video. He thought of an old artisan in the village who knew how to make bamboo weaving.

He felt this was very unique and could be filmed. He also thought of a patch of wild chestnut trees on the mountain behind the village; since autumn was approaching, they could go pick chestnuts.

He became more and more invested in Douyin creation. He discovered that by observing and recording this small village through the lens, he saw details and beauty he had never noticed before.

This place, which once made him feel somewhat depressed and bored, began to become lively and interesting.

His Douyin follower count slowly increased every day. Although it was still far from those top accounts, for him, it was already a huge improvement.

He started receiving some private messages, some asking where his village was, some asking how he filmed his videos, and even some businesses asking if he was interested in collaborations.

The anxiety about finding a job also seemed to lessen. He no longer felt idle, no longer felt so lost. Douyin gave him a new direction, a new possibility.

Although this possibility was still small and vague, at least, it was a glimmer of light, illuminating the path ahead of him.

He didn’t know how far this path would take him, or where it would ultimately lead him. But he decided to walk it and see. At least now, he was no longer a screw looking for the right hole.

He was trying, in his own way, to find his place on this land.

Hundreds of kilometers away from Shashi, in another city, Liu Jiajia finished her day’s work.

She habitually scrolled through her phone to relax. Her finger slid across the Douyin recommendation page when suddenly, a familiar profile stopped her.

It was Lin Gengjin.

She opened her eyes wide in surprise. In the video, Lin Gengjin was walking on a country road, a faint smile on his face. The background was golden rice fields and distant mountains.

“He’s making Douyin videos?” Liu Jiajia’s heart lifted. She knew he had returned to his hometown, but she didn’t know what exactly he was doing. Seeing him in the video, and looking well, she was genuinely happy for him.

She clicked on the video and watched it completely. The video’s visuals were beautiful, and the editing was smooth. But soon, she noticed another person.

A young, pretty girl, dressed in casual clothes, appeared in the frame with Lin Gengjin.

Her smile was bright, and she chatted and laughed with Lin Gengjin. Their interactions looked very natural and harmonious. The video’s caption read: “A classmate came to visit my hometown, taking her to see my rural life.”

Liu Jiajia’s heart suddenly sank. A classmate? Which classmate? She knew Lin Gengjin had some classmates still in Shashi, but she didn’t know he was so close with any of them, and they looked so intimate.

She watched the video several times, her eyes fixed on the girl’s face. Although she hadn’t met her, the girl had a good demeanor and a comfortable look.

In the video, they walked along the field paths together, looked through things in the old house together, and chatted in the courtyard together. Every shot exuded a strange harmony.

A complex emotion welled up in Liu Jiajia’s heart. There was happiness that Lin Gengjin had found something to do, longing for the beautiful rural scenery, but more than that, curiosity about the girl in the video and a hint of indescribable nervousness.

She clicked on Lin Gengjin’s Douyin homepage. She found that he had already posted many videos, but most were landscapes or his parents’ backs.

Only in the most recent few videos did this girl appear, and videos with her in them clearly had higher viewership and likes.

“So his Douyin went viral because of her…” Liu Jiajia thought to herself.

She scrolled through the comment section and, sure enough, saw many netizens asking who the girl was, some even directly asking if she was Lin Gengjin’s girlfriend.

Liu Jiajia’s heart sank. Although Lin Gengjin said she was a “classmate” in the caption, the netizens’ guesses made her uneasy.

What was her relationship with Lin Gengjin now? Although they hadn’t explicitly said they were getting back together, she had always held hope for him.

She thought he would have a difficult time back home, and she was even prepared to go to Shashi to accompany and support him.

But now, he seemed to be doing well, and there was a girl by his side who looked very close to him.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner turmoil. Maybe they were just ordinary classmates and friends? She told herself not to overthink it.

She opened WeChat and found Lin Gengjin’s chat window. After a moment of hesitation, she sent a message.

“Lin Gengjin, I saw your Douyin! You filmed it really well! I didn’t expect you had this talent.” She praised him first.

"Repay a favor? You call this repaying a favor?" Lin Gengjin stood up suddenly, and the chair he brought over hit the floor with a "bang", making a dull loud noise that was particularly harsh in this quiet room. He stared at Su Xinyue, his eyes seemed to be spewing fire, his fingertips were slightly white due to extreme anger, and even trembled uncontrollably. "Su Xinyue, are you crazy? In order to repay that so-called favor, you want to give birth to a child for Zhao Ziyu? What's in your mind? Paste or shit?" "Husband, don't be angry, listen to me..." Su Xinyue quickly explained, "Su Xinyue, what do you think of me, Lin Gengjin? A dispensable decoration? A chess piece that you can sacrifice at will!" Lin Gengjin interrupted her, his voice hoarse due to anger, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, with a strong sense of disbelief and heartache. Su Xinyue also stood up, like a lioness forced into a corner. Her usually gentle eyes were now filled with stubbornness and determination, as if she had become a different person. Her eyes were frighteningly red, as if she had just experienced a heart-wrenching cry, or like bloodshot rabbit eyes, covered with dense bloodshot, revealing a desperate madness. "Husband, you don't understand anything at all! Do you think I am thinking? If it hadn't been for Zhao Ziyu, what would have happened to me now? I might have been killed by those little gangsters... by them... Now he is begging me in front of me, asking me to help him, how can I bear to refuse?"
