As the vehicle rolled forward, the deathly zombies within a meter of Xu Lun were all transferred into the workshop.

Under the temptation of shedding the “intern” prefix, Banana happily agreed to the task of dealing with the zombies.

This greatly improved Xu Lun’s mood, making him feel that artificial intelligence, too, had its merits.

“No need to stop, just drive straight through.”

Xu Lun glanced at the “police” casually. Saeko Busujima didn’t object, clearly having noticed something as well.

“Drive through?”

Before Shizuka Marikawa could react, the SUV had already crashed into them, leaving her a bit flustered.

They quickly surrounded the car. When they saw the three people inside, their breathing quickened.

“I’ve changed my mind. The two women are yours, but this man must be left for me to deal with.” Takagi stared at Xu Lun’s body greedily, his breathing ragged.

Xu Lun and Saeko Busujima got out of the car, their expressions strange.

“Busujima-san, can you handle this? These prisoners should have guns.”

“Don’t worry, I can dodge police pistols.”

The so-called “dodging bullets” didn’t mean you had to be faster than the gun, just faster than the person firing it. These people hadn’t even managed to scrounge up full police uniforms, and they indeed only had a few guns.

“Dodge bullets?”

Takagi scoffed when he heard Xu Lun’s words, pulling a pistol from his pocket and aiming it at Xu Lun.

“Sweetheart, don’t move. I don’t want to hurt you.”

His fists hardened.

Xu Lun’s eyes turned cold. His figure flashed, instantly rushing in front of Takagi. Not wanting to touch this pervert with his fists, he delivered a spinning kick that instantly crushed Takagi’s throat, silencing him.

“You dare resist!”

Seeing this, the other prisoners were a half-beat slow in pulling out their pistols and began firing.

At this moment, Xu Lun had already charged forward. Against ordinary people, once he got close, his body was the most precise weapon. An ordinary punch or kick carried immense destructive power. Any contact meant either death or severe injury.

“It was a flaw in their words,” Saeko Busujima replied. “If there was a zombie horde ahead, how would they dare to stay here, let alone shout loudly to warn them?”

Facing Saeko Busujima’s probing gaze, Xu Lun also gave his reason.

“I just felt they didn’t seem like good people.”

What kind of police would block people on the road? He wasn’t driving an electric scooter, after all.

Xu Lun couldn’t help but frequently glance at Saeko Busujima. He had just witnessed a famous scene: someone dodging bullets. He was still a bit shocked. Was she really that elastic?

Saeko Busujima still held her wooden sword, showing no desire for a gun. After all, guns were more effective for killing people, but using them against zombies would only attract more. Xu Lun put all the firearms into the workshop, leaving one pistol for Shizuka Marikawa for self-defense.

“I need to go out for a bit.”

“I’ll go with you.”

Xu Lun didn’t refuse Saeko Busujima. As a direct victim of the biological hazard, she would definitely want to know the truth. The hospital was quite close, so going together wouldn’t be a problem.

“There seem to be quite a few survivors here.”

Xu Lun noticed the gazes occasionally coming from their surroundings, seemingly scrutinizing them.

“It might be because this area is less populated.”

This area was, after all, a wealthy district, and many people still had private security guards. Although in the apocalypse, security guards might not necessarily make owners safer, it did result in more living people.

Walking through the city was still relatively safe now. As long as they remained vigilant and tried to make as little noise as possible, they could avoid attracting too many zombies.

After some trekking, they finally arrived at their destination—the hospital.

The two successfully reached the hospital. The hospital’s automatic doors were still functioning normally. Xu Lun cautiously walked into the hospital, his baseball bat gripped tightly, ready to deal with any potential danger.

However, to his surprise, the hospital was unusually quiet. Only the air conditioning in the lobby was still stubbornly blowing cold air. The floor was covered in blood, but there wasn’t a single zombie in sight.

Everything was too calm.

“It seems there really is something wrong here.”

Given the hospital’s foot traffic, if zombies had broken out here, it would be almost impossible for many people to escape. So why was it like this now? But it probably wasn’t Umbrella’s doing, as zombies served as a barrier and alarm for them. He frowned, continuing to search for clues.

He walked through several departments without finding any sign of zombies.

Umbrella’s bases were usually underground, but where would the entrance be in a hospital?

“The morgue.”

In a blink of an eye, they had wandered into the depths of the hospital. The bloodstains on the ground were gradually deepening, extending towards a dark staircase.

There, a “Morgue, Do Not Enter” sign still stood.

“I feel like entering now would lead to some classic horror movie plot.”

The atmosphere was a bit heavy. Saeko Busujima’s heart was pounding as she said, troubled.

“Actually, we can turn on the lights first.”

Without recklessly barging into the darkness, Xu Lun turned on the light at the stairwell entrance. The dark staircase instantly became bright again, making the atmosphere less heavy.

“Busujima-san, are you sure you want to go in with me?”

Xu Lun asked Saeko Busujima again.

Saeko Busujima showed a resolute smile. “Xu Lun-kun, are you perhaps underestimating me a little too much? I have no reason to run away.”

“Besides, splitting up at this point is a classic ‘picked off one by one’ trope in horror movies, isn’t it?”
