The sacred right side of a certain manga Chapter 020

(Lately, I’ve been spending time at the gym every day, and it’s really exhausting.)

Roy stood in the Vatican Palace, dressed in a cardinal’s robe, holding documents about Italy’s ‘Seven Sisters Magical Society Alliance’.

The Vatican Palace was originally the Pope’s residence, but after Roy, as the ‘Son of God,’ came to rule Christianity, it became his abode.

In the Sistine Chapel, the ceiling and walls preserved Michelangelo’s famous frescoes, ‘Genesis’ and ‘The Last Judgment,’ which he spent four years painting. Within the magnificent halls, filled with the works of many renowned artists, a sacred aura permeated.

“Seven Sisters… Isn’t this referring to the ‘Seven Sisters’ from the golden age of Italian football, known as the ‘Little World Cup’? Speaking of which, I don’t remember the contents of Campione! very clearly, and I haven’t even finished it, but I just have to get this off my chest.”

Roy muttered to himself. His current body was sixteen years old, and during his sixteen years in A Certain Magical Index, his memories from before transmigration had already become hazy.

“The Red Copper Black Cross is AC Milan, the Bronze Black Cross is Inter Milan, the Old Lady is Juventus, the City of Lilies is Fiorentina, the She-Wolf is Roma, the Blue Eagle is Lazio…”

Roy chuckled as he set down the documents, then fell into contemplation. Although these seven major magical societies conflicted with his memories, which he found amusing, they were indeed the strongest forces in Italy’s mysterious domain.

“Aiwass, how’s your analysis of Pandora’s Dark Ritual and the Heretic Gods coming along?”

Standing beneath the famous painting ‘The Last Judgment,’ Aiwass’s glowing figure appeared behind Roy. He began to ask.

“I’ve reached a conclusion regarding the existence and general origin of Heretic Gods. Humans, out of fear and belief in the unknown, created the concept of gods, then wove myths to assign gods their respective places. However, due to special reasons in certain ‘magic,’ a very small number of divine concepts broke free from myth, thus becoming Heretic Gods on earth.”

“…Heretic Gods are more like avatars of gods, existing because of a ‘core.’ Pandora’s Dark Ritual is precisely the fusion of this ‘core’ with humans, allowing humans to gain divine abilities. Campiones can be entirely called ‘mimic gods.’”

Aiwass meticulously explained his findings regarding the relationship between Heretic Gods and Campiones.

“So, Heretic Gods are actually like Heroic Spirits, but divine avatars are far stronger than humans who have ascended to Heroic Spirits through great achievements. The conceptual information of gods exists in myths, and the descent of a Heretic God is the process of using this information, under the combined action of this world’s rules and magic, to materialize and be born.”

Roy nodded slightly, gaining a full understanding of the existence of Heretic Gods. This was almost identical to the concept of Heroic Spirits in the ‘Fate’ games he used to play, except that Heroic Spirits’ information was in the ‘Throne,’ while gods’ information was in myths.

They all descended in the form of avatars, and their core was the ‘Spirit Origin.’ Under normal circumstances, both Heroic Spirits and Heretic God avatars would disappear and return after being eliminated. However, Pandora’s Dark Ritual left the Heretic God’s Spirit Origin behind and fused it with humans, thus giving birth to Campiones.

In the world of Campione!, there were actually no true gods. They were merely conceptual information elevated by human faith within myths. When these concepts gained consciousness and descended to earth, they became Heretic Gods. When they didn’t descend to earth, they were gods bound by myth. This was a paradox: gods could never appear before mortals; only Heretic Gods could appear before mortals.

“Therefore, it’s actually not difficult to completely eliminate gods, because gods exist due to myths woven by humans. We need to understand the cause and effect and the sequence: myths came first, then gods, not the other way around. As long as humanity is eliminated or human history is extinguished, gods will naturally perish.”

(Note: This is from the original text of Campione! To make gods completely disappear, humanity must disappear.)

This information was very important to Roy. He wasn’t confined to killing Heretic Gods to gain power; instead, he would explore more fundamental things.

Roy’s goal was to ‘raise the sword of rebellion against his elegant father.’ With the so-called Campione power he currently wielded, it was as laughable as a child’s toy in front of Aleister Crowley.

Therefore, Roy had to turn these toys into real weapons.

“Aiwass, what are your thoughts on the flaws of Campiones?”

Roy asked again.

Although Campiones could allow mortals to reach the heavens in one step, directly crossing countless hours of tempering to achieve great feats, the upper limit of Campiones was simply too low.

No matter how many Heretic Gods you killed, the amount of spell power you possessed remained the same. Spell power would not accumulate, and the Authorities you possessed would not evolve; only their quantity would change.

The difference between the oldest Campione and a newly born Campione, apart from the number of Authorities, was only in experience. Campiones were beings who would not grow stronger with time, having already lost the ‘infinite possibilities’ of the future.

If likened to a game, a Campione was like a level 1 mortal directly becoming level 50, but that was as far as it went. Even if this Campione was given a hundred Authorities, the upper limit of these Authorities would still only be level 50. While they could allow you to perform various tricks, you wouldn’t actually become stronger.

This was the great flaw of Pandora’s Dark Ritual, as Aiwass had stated. Aside from the qualitative change produced by the first god-slaying, no matter how many more gods were slain afterward, a Campione could only gain new Authorities, with no essential change whatsoever, forever unable to break through the level 50 limit.

This was not what Roy wanted. If left to his own devices, Roy would naturally find it difficult to break through this Campione bottleneck in a short time. However, he had Aiwass’s help. As the ‘Secret Leader,’ an existence on par with a Demon God, Aiwass was far more powerful than all the gods in this world combined.

Compared to the mysterious space that allowed him to travel between worlds, Roy believed Aiwass was actually his greatest ‘cheat.’

“I need to combine this world’s indigenous knowledge with my own knowledge to improve Pandora’s Dark Ritual and allow you, Roy, to break through this limitation.”

Aiwass responded to Roy.

“Understood, thank you, Aiwass! I will also strive to absorb knowledge so that your knowledge can be applied.”

Roy exhaled softly.

Although he had Aiwass’s help, he couldn’t do nothing. This was like an elementary school student facing a university professor. Although he didn’t need to calculate complex math problems and only had to write down formulas as dictated by the teacher, if an elementary school student didn’t even recognize basic mathematical symbols, the teacher could dictate all they wanted, but the student wouldn’t be able to write a single word.

Roy was like an elementary school student in front of Aiwass. He didn’t expect to achieve the same level of knowledge as Aiwass, but at the very least, his knowledge needed to be rich enough to write down and recognize what Aiwass dictated.

‘Turning Heretic Gods into materials that allow me to break through the level cap, isn’t this just Spirit Origin Ascension, or rather, the same as various mobile games…’

Roy self-deprecatingly thought.

“Alright, knowledge needs to be accumulated slowly, and things need to be done one by one. I’ll personally go and see Italy’s ‘Seven Sisters Alliance.’ Those magical societies must be hesitating now. It’s not that they don’t fear Campiones and dare to disobey my orders, but rather the existence of Salvatore Doni, the ‘King of Swords,’ that makes them caught between two Campiones and afraid to make a choice.”

He snorted lightly, his right hand in his pocket, his cardinal’s robe swaying as his red figure left the Sistine Chapel.

“Tell me where the leaders of Italy’s Seven Sisters Alliance are. I want to see them!”

Roy said this, much to the shock and awe of the clergy at the door.

The clergyman never imagined that the ‘King’ would actually act personally!
