Bone King: Homemade plug-in, I am the god of destiny Chapter 003

In the northwestern region of this alternate world, three human nations shared adjacent borders: the Re-Estize Kingdom, the Baharuth Empire, and the Slane Theocracy.

The three nations were positioned like an inverted “品” character, with the Kingdom in the northwest, the Empire in the northeast, and the Theocracy in the south.

Where the Kingdom and the Empire met, a continuous range of the Anglesia Mountains divided two-thirds of their border.

South of the mountains lay a vast forest, encircling the foothills in a ‘U’ shape, known as the Tobu Forest.

This primeval forest contained abundant biological resources such as herbs, timber, and game, but its depths also harbored countless monstrous beasts and creatures, posing extreme danger to humans.

Carne Village was a border village of the Kingdom, located near the Tobu Forest. The village consisted of twenty-five families, with a total population of about one hundred and twenty people.

The villagers’ livelihoods primarily came from forest resources and agricultural crops. Apart from the occasional visit from a physician to collect herbs or a tax collector to levy taxes, outsiders rarely came here.

Unlike large cities, which had the illumination magic of [Perpetual Light], the villagers of Carne Village lived a life of working from sunrise to sunset.

Early in the morning, the entire village became bustling with activity.

Young girls carried buckets to a nearby well to fetch water, women prepared breakfast for their families, and others helped out or organized farming tools, fed poultry, and so on.

A harmonious scene was transmitted by magical power into a mirror about one meter in diameter. A black-haired young man, enveloped in golden light, gazed at the image displayed in the magic mirror. Slowly, a ripple appeared in his eyes.

“Should I say you are unfortunate, or fortunate?”

Han Yu shook his head, speaking with a hint of emotion.

Although Carne Village was just one of many border villages in the Kingdom, it gained considerable fame in the original work and even became a popular spot for many Overlord fanfiction novels.

This was because its location was only ten kilometers from the Great Tomb of Nazarick. It was the first human village that Ainz Ooal Gown (Momonga) encountered in the original story and was involved in a significant event.

That event involved the Kingdom, the Empire, and the Theocracy. To explain it clearly, one must start with the national conditions of these three countries.

First, the Theocracy.

The history of the Theocracy could be traced back six hundred years. At that time, the human race had a very low status among the various races in the alternate world, serving as slaves or even “livestock” for other heteromorphic races, once teetering on the brink of extinction.

Later, the first batch of Yggdrasil players arrived in this alternate world.

These six individuals discovered the plight of the human race. With their formidable strength, they rescued humanity from the heteromorphic races and brought them to the northwestern region of the continent, establishing a comfortable safe zone for the human race to thrive and multiply.

The human race, grateful for the six individuals’ kindness, respectfully referred to them as the “Six Great Gods” and established the Slane Theocracy to worship these deities.

Over the next century, five of these Six Great Gods, who were human players, died of old age, and the last one, an undead player, perished in a disaster.

The Slane Theocracy inherited the legacy of the Six Great Gods, becoming the most powerful human nation. It promoted the belief of “human supremacy,” intending to carry on the will of the Six Great Gods and strengthen the entire human race.

Next were the Re-Estize Kingdom and the Baharuth Empire.

There was a deep historical connection between the two nations, as they were formed from the split of an unknown great nation two hundred years ago, leading to constant friction between them.

The Kingdom was located in the central-western part of the northwestern region, surrounded by mountains on three sides and seas on two. The entire country was almost entirely encompassed by various natural barriers, while its interior was mostly plains, giving it the most favorable geographical resources among the three human nations.

However, contrary to such advantageous geography, due to the lack of external threats and abundant internal resources, the ruling class of the Kingdom gradually became corrupt and decadent. Black market forces ran rampant domestically, and its overall national strength declined day by day.

Completely unlike the Kingdom, although the Empire’s land was barren and its agricultural power weak, its seven successive emperors were all enlightened rulers who worked hard to govern.

Especially the seventh, the current emperor, who used iron-fisted methods to purge a large number of incompetent nobles, reclaiming all their power and completing a political reform of centralization, causing the nation’s power to grow stronger day by day.

The stark differences between the two nations made the Theocracy, whose national objective was to strengthen the human race, utterly unable to sit still.

The Kingdom’s geographical resources were so rich; leaving them in the hands of those corrupt nobles was simply a waste for the entire human race.

Because of its apprehension towards the demi-human nation to the north of the Kingdom—the Argland Council State—the Theocracy could not directly send troops to conquer the Kingdom. So, it planned to let the Empire annex the Kingdom to fully utilize the value of that land’s resources.

To this end, the Theocracy dispatched special forces disguised as Imperial troops to attack a border village in the Kingdom. Their plan was to lure out and assassinate a key figure in the Kingdom, the Warrior Captain Gazef Stronoff, and simultaneously provoke a war between the Kingdom and the Empire, accelerating the Empire’s annexation of the Kingdom.

Gazef, leading the Kingdom’s Warrior Band, eventually engaged in a decisive battle with the Theocracy’s special forces at Carne Village. As bait, Carne Village had been attacked by the Theocracy’s forces in advance, and a large number of villagers were killed or wounded.

This was why Han Yu said the village was unfortunate.

As for luck…

In the original work, Carne Village was ultimately saved by Ainz Ooal Gown and did not perish like other villages attacked by the Theocracy’s disguised forces.

And now that Han Yu was here, he intended to do the same thing.

In other words, Carne Village was destined not to be destroyed, which was undoubtedly a stroke of luck.

“Hmm? It’s starting!”

The image in the [Far-Sight Mirror] began to change. A cavalry troop stormed into the village, slashing at anyone they saw amidst the villagers’ astonishment and terror.

The young men of the village attempted to resist, but their counterattacks had little effect against the knights clad in heavy plate armor. One by one, they fell into pools of blood.

A girl with golden braided hair pulled a smaller girl out of a house.

Behind them, a knight pursued the sisters with a sword, his intention clear: to kill them.

“The chosen one, huh.”

Han Yu raised an eyebrow when he saw the golden-haired girl in the mirror.

Seeing that the situation was nearly ripe, he did not continue to observe. He raised his right hand and pointed it towards the sky.

Tenth Tier Spell · Control Weather!

A dense magical radiance enveloped Han Yu, spreading its power over Carne Village. The sky immediately became turbulent with strong winds, thick dark clouds gathered in the blink of an eye, and terrifying thunder continuously rumbled within the clouds.

The sudden phenomenon caused the ongoing slaughter in the village to pause. The knights who were massacring the villagers were startled by the thunder and anxiously looked up at the sky.

Fifth Tier Spell · Teleportation!

Connecting to a pre-marked spatial node, Han Yu used teleportation magic to transfer into the clouds. Then, lightning tore through the sky!

Ah!

Ah!

Several bolts of lightning struck down, hitting several perpetrators in succession. After letting out agonizing screams, they collapsed to the ground as charred corpses.

Is this punishment from the heavens?

Amidst the terrified eyes of the knights and the hopeful gazes of the villagers, golden light broke through the clouds, and angels with white wings descended one after another.

The village girl Enri tightly hugged her younger sister, her eyes fixed on the angel that landed before her. The angel blocked the evil knights, and the staff in its hand emitted a soft light, warming the bodies of both sisters.

“My Lord…”

Feeling the benevolence emanating from the angel, Enri opened her mouth, wanting to express her gratitude to her benefactor, but then she saw the angel suddenly turn towards the sky and kneel in that direction.

For a moment, the eyes of the knights and villagers were once again drawn by the angels’ unusual actions, gathering on the sky above the village.

Just then, another anomaly appeared in the sky: the dark clouds vanished in an instant, sacred feathers fluttered down, and a white figure, like a deity, slowly descended from the heavens.

His entrance was full of grandeur!

Han Yu silently praised himself in his mind, but his expression remained calm.

He slightly raised his head, his indifferent gaze seemingly piercing through space, staring at the figure from beyond.

Almost simultaneously, deep within the Great Tomb of Nazarick, ten kilometers away, the skeletal magic caster who was observing the village’s situation with the [Far-Sight Mirror] froze for a moment.

The next second, the magic mirror instantly became covered in cracks, then shattered into a pile of fragments with a bang.
