Magical User Aozaki Aoko Case Files Chapter 214

Lina pulled out a crystal ball-like object, about the size of a child’s fist, and placed it on the ground. The crystal ball spun on its own, finally stopping and pointing towards the window. (This thing looks like a compass.)

“This should be north…” Lina mumbled to herself, then took out a piece of paper with a magic circle drawn in the center and spread it on the ground.

Next, she took out an ink bottle and a brush, brushed the ink onto a wooden board, and then transferred the magic circle onto a small card.

“Reiko, please put that ruby in the center of the magic circle, facing north and south.” Lina said to Reiko.

Reiko nodded and placed a roughly prismatic ruby in the center of the magic circle, arranging it as Lina instructed. Then, Lina gently placed the card on top of the ruby.

Based on the magic knowledge Reiko had acquired in this world, this should be a purification ritual. Reiko could already guess what Lina wanted to do.

“Oh, crimson flame, source of all power, burn brightly…”

As Lina chanted, the card suddenly burst into flames. The magic circle imprinted on it had already been transferred by Lina’s magic into the ruby. This high-quality ruby now became a magic gem storing fire magic.

Reiko stroked her chin, judging that this method should be a unique enchantment mechanism in this world. And it seemed that Lina didn’t suffer any other losses besides consuming her own magic, so this method was indeed worth learning.

After inspecting the enchanted ruby, Lina grabbed a handful of inferior rubies, placed her hand above the enchanted ruby, and chanted again.

“Oh, fleeting wind, crossing sky and earth, blowing away eternity in an instant…”

Lina’s magic turned the inferior rubies in her hand into gem powder. Then she sprinkled these powders evenly onto the enchanted ruby.

“You try it too!” Lina beckoned to Reiko. “Although this magic has no destructive power, not everyone can do it. It’s one of the criteria for evaluating high-level mages, you know?”

Reiko imitated her, grabbing a handful of inferior rubies and holding them in her hand, circulating her magic. But the difference between her and Lina was that she was already a very high-level spellcaster. She had excellent silent casting skills, and low-level magic like this didn’t require chanting to cast.

Reiko simply focused her mind, and the inferior rubies in her hand were transformed into gem powder, which she then sprinkled in the same spot.

“Amazing!” Lina praised. “Although our two worlds have different magic systems, the qualities of mages seem to be similar. Looking at your age, you’re a genius!”

She smiled and accepted Lina’s compliment, but Reiko secretly thought that she was actually over twenty, but her physical age was forever seventeen. This was a little secret of a magic user.

“There are still a lot of leftover broken gems. Let’s finish them together. Don’t let Gourry wait too long.” Lina said.

Reiko nodded, and together with Lina, they alternately used the gem purification magic to process these inferior rubies that wouldn’t sell for much.

After all the inferior rubies were used up, Lina took out a small bottle of potion from the side and poured the green liquid onto the small mountain of gem powder, making the powder more compact, like shaved ice with juice poured on it.

“Oh, infinite earth, source of all life, gently flowing rivers, gather in my hand and take form!”

With a dazzling flash of magical light, the pile of gem powder and the original enchanted ruby fused and re-forged, becoming a large enchanted ruby at least the size of a fist.

“With this, the Flame Gem Magic Amulet is complete!” Lina said happily, rubbing the ruby against her face before speaking in a cheerful tone.

—Dividing Line—

When the two of them returned to the entrance of the magic shop, Gourry was already lying on the lawn in front of the shop, fast asleep, his snores deafening. This guy’s adaptability was truly strong.

Lina didn’t hesitate to kick him twice, waking Gourry up, and then the three of them walked into the magic shop.

The goods in this shop were diverse, ranging from various enchanted items to daily consumables, equipment, and weapons for mages. Even Reiko looked at them with great interest.

“Boss, I want to sell these goods!” Lina loudly said to the gray-haired old male shopkeeper, her desire for money easily discernible.

The boss nodded, looking at the ancient gold coins, the enchanted ruby, and the “magic weapon” in the package. He nodded, then took out a monocular magnifying glass and placed it on his glasses, carefully examining the ruby.

“Oh, oh, this thing seems to have been magically processed?” The shopkeeper immediately noticed the value of the enchanted ruby and said, “You seem to be a very capable mage. I’ll buy this, how about a 30% premium on the market price?”

“No problem!” Lina said happily. “Uncle, you’re very discerning indeed~”

“Next, this short sword, hmm…” The shopkeeper held the short sword and examined it repeatedly, seemingly detecting the magic attached to it. “It also seems to be a good magic item. I need to pull it out and take a closer look…”

“If I were you, I wouldn’t pull that thing out here,” Reiko said calmly from the side, while examining the special enchanted paper sold in the shop. “That sword is enchanted with a curse. If you pull it out, a vengeful spirit will possess you, and it wouldn’t be good if someone (you) got hurt then.”

“You have a point!” The shopkeeper listened and readily complied, carefully placing the short sword in a box specifically for cursed weapons. “Then, how about we calculate the price of this short sword as a cursed weapon?”

Lina thought about it and felt it was fine, nodding her head.

She had initially wanted to sell it for a higher price, but when she saw the shopkeeper trying to pull it out to inspect it, she had also intended to stop him, but Reiko’s actions were a step faster.

“So, these items total three thousand six hundred gold coins, how about it?” The shopkeeper inquired. “Next time you get similar goods, you can come find me again, and I’ll give you a good price.”

“Deal!” Lina was very satisfied with the price, or rather, she was surprised that this shopkeeper actually had equipment that could isolate cursed items. It was clear he was an old hand in this business.

After receiving the gold coins, Lina took out a thousand gold coins, giving five hundred to Reiko and five hundred to Gourry. She was quite generous.

“Huh? Lina, isn’t this money from selling your treasures?” Gourry scratched his head and asked confusedly. “There’s no need to share it with me, right?”

“You did a good job as a bodyguard on this journey!” Lina patted Gourry’s back and said, “I, Lina Inverse, am not stingy. Labor should be rewarded. There’s nothing to question about that.”

Gourry thought for a moment and didn’t push back too much, calmly accepting the money. His travels also needed sufficient funds to support them.
