Approximately ten minutes later, a well-dressed young man with a meticulously combed golden pompadour and an arrogant expression walked into the classroom and stood behind the podium.

He first surveyed the classroom, and then, when his gaze landed on the last row, where Aoko and Touko were seated, he froze.

Kenneth El-Melloi Archibald’s expression was slightly stiff.

Though hard to believe, given his caliber, Kenneth had already discerned the true nature of the two young girls sitting in that row.

A strong sense of incongruity, a powerful repulsive suggestion brought forth by the Counter Force, a “difference” that only a magus of Kenneth’s level could perceive.

A “Law” that stood against the world, the wielder of ultimate mystery, was sitting in his classroom, awaiting his lecture.

Kenneth suddenly felt his throat dry. He instinctively loosened his collar, picked up the water glass from the podium, unscrewed it, and took a sip, allowing himself to calm down.

Young female, magic, East Asian.

Through these three elements, Kenneth deduced her specific identity. She must be Aozaki Aoko, the protagonist of the much-discussed Fifth Magic inheritance incident that had caused quite a stir recently.

Kenneth held a certain admiration for Aozaki Touko, the “Magician’s Egg” who had once studied at the Clock Tower. Although he wasn’t close with Aozaki Touko, Kenneth believed that since she was a genius and he was also a genius, it was only natural for geniuses to appreciate each other.

However, ever since Aozaki Touko fled and was placed on the Sealing Designation list, she had vanished from Kenneth’s sight.

After that, he heard some rumors from Northern Europe, but Kenneth didn’t pay much attention to them, instead refocusing his efforts on his own research.

He heard that Aozaki Touko returned to the Far East to contend with her sister for the right to inherit the Fifth Magic. And now, the one sitting here, possessing the complete aura of a “Law,” was not Aozaki Touko, so…

Kenneth’s gaze shifted slightly, landing on the small girl beside the Magician, and he immediately felt a bit confused.

Who was this? Kenneth quickly pondered. Could she be Aozaki Aoko’s sister?

Aozaki Touko and Aozaki Aoko were the only two descendants of this generation’s Fourth Magician family. So this little girl was very likely…

“Professor Kenneth?” a scrawny male student with somewhat feminine medium-short hair interrupted Kenneth’s thoughts. “Is something wrong?”

“You don’t need to remind me, Waver,” Kenneth snapped back, his voice carrying a hint of arrogance. “I was merely thinking. Class will begin now!”

Waver flinched, then obediently sat back down and pulled out his textbook and notebook, ready to listen.

Aoko, meanwhile, listened with great interest to the lecture given by Lord El-Melloi of the Mineralogy Department, just like any ordinary student.

Touko, beside her, felt incredibly bored. The things Kenneth was teaching were all knowledge she had long since mastered. Listening to it again only made her drowsy.

And indeed, she did fall asleep. Touko was already resting her head on the desk, her breathing steady, by the time the lecture was halfway through.

The entire class lasted approximately two hours.

After it ended, Kenneth glanced at Aoko, then hesitated for a moment before picking up his lecture notes and leaving the classroom.

Aoko, having witnessed the famous character “Lemon Head” and the super workaholic “El-Melloi II (young form),” was generally satisfied. She then pulled the still-groggy Touko out of the classroom.

However, just as she reached an empty corner in the corridor, a voice called out to her.

“Please wait, Fourth Magician.”

“Good thing this isn’t some primeval world,” Aoko muttered to herself.

She turned around and saw Kenneth El-Melloi Archibald catching up to her.

“May I ask if Lord El-Melloi needs something?” Aoko asked calmly.

“The Fourth Magician has come all the way from the Far East; I presume it’s not just to listen to my lecture?” Kenneth said, after calming his breathing, which had become a little ragged from his short run. “As the Lord of the Clock Tower’s Mineralogy Department, I have a responsibility to inquire about your purpose in coming to the Clock Tower.”

Aoko exchanged glances with Touko beside her, then scrutinized the somewhat nervous Kenneth.

“Although Lord El-Melloi’s class was indeed splendid, our purpose in coming here was not to attend lectures,” Aoko said. “My main purpose concerns Touko’s matters.”

“As expected!” Kenneth inwardly praised his own quick thinking. He had been pondering during class: if this little girl beside Aozaki Aoko was Aozaki Touko, then after the sisters had resolved their differences and reconciled, the Sealing Designation would undoubtedly be the immediate problem they would want to solve…

“I understand,” Kenneth nodded. “So, are you two planning to go to the Sealing Designation Bureau to cancel the Sealing Designation on Ms. Aozaki Touko?”

“Something like that,” Aoko said vaguely. “But before that, we still have some other things we want to do. After all, some people who did certain things must pay the price…”

Kenneth’s heart immediately sank. He instantly understood what these two sisters intended to do!

As a magus who was outwardly arrogant but still retained a shred of ordinary human morality, Kenneth had felt uncomfortable for a while when he first heard that Lord Barthomeloi had applied for a Sealing Designation on her prized student.

After all, truthfully, Kenneth himself would never treat his disciples in such a manner.

“So, Lord El-Melloi,” the red-haired Magician asked, “do you know where my sister’s mentor, Lord Barthomeloi, is currently?”

Kenneth’s mouth opened and closed, as if he wanted to say something but couldn’t.

He looked at Aozaki Aoko standing at the corner of the corridor. Half of the Magician’s smiling face was illuminated by the sunlight, while the other half was hidden in shadow.

The “Law” characteristic Kenneth sensed from this Magician, who wielded the Fifth Magic, seemed to deepen in that very instant.

It was the principle of “destruction/consumption.”

He didn’t believe it was his imagination.

“…Lord Barthomeloi is currently in the Lord’s workshop of the Creation Department,” Kenneth calmly stated the answer.

“Thank you for your honesty,” Aozaki Aoko said with a smile. “After the matter is settled, my sister and I will certainly call upon you to repay your assistance.”
