Magical User Aozaki Aoko Case Files Chapter 052

However, life sometimes didn’t go as planned.

Nanaya Kiri, the pinnacle of assassins, met his end on this ordinary night.

The crimson鬼神 (Oni-God) roared, igniting the air around him.

Every blow he struck carried scorching flames, and his movements became increasingly rapid, gradually catching up to the assassin who was as light as a shadow.

Kishima Kouma endured the dull ache in his neck, using all his strength like never before in his life, striking the assassin named Nanaya Kiri in the abdomen.

Crimson blood splattered across the ground, Nanaya Kiri’s flank was a bloody mess, despite him trying his best to dodge Kishima Kouma’s attack at the last moment.

But clearly, the current situation had exceeded the limits a mere human body could endure.

He lay on the ground, looking at the full moon casting pure light in the clear sky, thinking that this ending might not be so bad.

Just a little worried about Shiki… the young assassin thought, the loss of blood blurring his consciousness and making his body feel colder and colder.

He heard heavy footsteps approaching him, it was the sound of the monster named Kishima Kouma drawing near.

At the very end, Nanaya Kiri saw Kishima Kouma raise his foot and stomp down hard towards his head.

Death did not come as the assassin expected.

Instead, Kishima Kouma stopped as if a pause button had been pressed, even his foot was suspended in mid-air, not far from Nanaya Kiri’s face.

“…You reek.” Nanaya Kiri said, using all his strength to voice his thoughts.

He struggled to look up, and in the sky above the forest, a young woman with crimson hair floated there. Her outstretched right hand was in a strange gesture, emitting faint glows, pointing in Kishima Kouma’s direction.

“Non Movere!” (Spell from BG 3)

A spell-like sound entered Nanaya Kiri’s ears. If he hadn’t still been alive, he might have thought he was hallucinating.

The young woman with long crimson hair commanded, fixing the Oni-God in place.

Then, in Nanaya Kiri’s eyes, a suddenly appearing bolt of lightning was held in the woman’s hand.

She lightly tossed the lightning forward, and this bolt of lightning, like the fastest and sharpest javelin, pierced through Kishima Kouma’s head.

Along with crackling sounds, Kishima Kouma’s head was repeatedly seared by this lightning javelin, emitting a faint smell of roasted meat.

His tall and robust body collapsed with a thud, stirring up a flurry of falling leaves around him.

“Nanaya Kiri?” the woman in the air asked.

But at this moment, Nanaya Kiri had no strength to respond, only letting out a faint groan.

The woman descended beside him, reaching out her hand to the wound on his abdomen. A greenish light enveloped Kiri’s body, and he immediately felt a sense of relief.

“Who—are you?” Nanaya Kiri struggled to ask. He had already realized that even a hopeless killer like himself could have a day when he was saved by others.

“Aozaki—” the young woman with long crimson hair spoke a surname that was slightly unfamiliar to Kiri, “Aozaki Aoko.”

As the wound on his abdomen healed at an incredible speed, Nanaya Kiri gradually felt the intense pain that had been ignored due to blood loss, causing him to groan.

Kiri noticed that the woman seemed to be searching for something. Her gaze went towards the highway down the hill and quickly locked onto a sedan parked by the roadside.

“Alright,” the woman who called herself Aozaki Aoko stopped treating Nanaya Kiri, “You should be able to run to the hospital yourself now, right?”

Nanaya Kiri subconsciously touched his flank, which had been shattered by Kishima Kouma, only to find that it had completely regrown, leaving only some less obvious fresh scars.

Is this a Magician? Kiri had heard this term before, hearing that they were people who delved into the principles of the past. Now it seemed truly remarkable…

The Magician named Aozaki Aoko flew into the sky again. She raised her wrist, and azure starlight flowed down from her crimson hair, then gathered at the tip of her finger pointing down the mountain.

A torrent of light shot from her fingertips, illuminating a large area of the mountain forest.

Kiri looked down the mountain. The sedan had already turned into a pile of scrap metal with an explosion. Presumably, those were the commanders of those hybrids?

“Aozaki!” Nanaya Kiri struggled to stand up and shouted into the air, “If you need escort work in the future, you can come find me, I’ll give you a discount!”

With that, he took out a slightly wrinkled business card from his pocket and threw it at the woman in the air using the technique of throwing a concealed weapon.

The business card stopped about half a meter from Aozaki Aoko, then she caught it in her hand.

She took a quick look; the business card only had a name and phone number. She nodded to Nanaya Kiri, then flew towards the old Kuonji residence on the mountain.

Nanaya Kiri sighed and limped down the mountain, leaving the area.

I should take fewer jobs like this in the future, Nanaya Kiri thought, and spend more time with Shiki, that child is always unwilling to talk much.

Aoko didn’t know if Tohno Makihisa was in the car she destroyed, but she didn’t really care. However, Aoko believed that since Kishima Kouma had been dispatched, these people who attacked the Kuonji family must have been sent by Tohno Makihisa.

Since she killed Kishima Kouma, Tohno Makihisa probably wouldn’t have the courage to keep coming to his death.

Saving Nanaya Kiri was an accident. She didn’t expect the head of the Kuonji family to find him as their bodyguard. It seemed they had spent a lot.

She went to the Kuonji house. The Kuonji family, seeing that Aoko had dealt with the minions sent by Tohno Makihisa, naturally thanked her profusely. Aoko didn’t stay long, but before leaving, she gave a rune stone to Kohaku and Hisui’s mother, telling her to smash the stone if there was danger, and she would know.

Nanaya Kiri had retired from his profession, and Aoko wondered why he took on this escort job for the Kuonji family this time. Was it due to the past camaraderie of the Four Great Demon Slayers?

Aoko didn’t ask further, but directly used teleportation to leave the Kuonji house.

She kept Nanaya Kiri’s business card because she thought it might be useful in the future. After all, letting professionals do professional work had always been one of Aoko’s life principles.

Aoko stood in front of the gate of the Kuonji Residence, looked at her watch, and breathed a sigh of relief. She had finished her work before the time she had agreed upon with Arcueid, Alice, and Touko. What a joyous occasion.
