“You could have been an incredible Yellow Lantern.”

Sin’s words were indeed true. On the one hand, Captain America was truly a person who could bring hope to others. His smile, actions, demeanor, and noble character all possessed an inexplicable infectious power.

He was like a lighthouse, not only capable of saving others but also enabling them to discover better versions of themselves.

However, on the other hand, Captain America was also very adept at instilling fear in his enemies. His wisdom, combat prowess, and unwavering will made him seem like an unyielding flag on the battlefield, filling the hearts of all who faced him with dread.

Seventy years ago, he only met Red Skull twice, but based solely on these two encounters and some information obtained from the SSR [Strategic Scientific Reserve]①, he analyzed Red Skull’s true personality and exposed it to his face.

Red Skull, whose inner scars and fears were exposed by Steve, displayed his power to inflict fear on others, causing the Yellow Lantern Ring to betray its wearer on the spot and attach itself to Steve’s finger.

After that, Steve never again attempted to summon the Yellow Lantern Ring.

“Why do you resist this power? If you had tried to summon it, it would have been on your finger long ago!” Sin gazed obsessively at the yellow ring on her finger, mercilessly taunting Steve.

“I think… there’s only one possibility!” Sin lowered her finger, staring at Captain America in the distance.

“You’re afraid of this power!”

Sin’s voice carried a certain vibration, symbolizing the power of fear spreading with her words. Captain America’s will was too steadfast; those ridiculous constructs had no effect on him whatsoever, and would instead be weakened by the blue light of hope.

So Sin attempted to diminish Captain America’s will through language.

“Yes, you’re right, I am indeed afraid of that power!” Steve suddenly raised his head, looking at Sin openly. The blue and green lights showed no signs of weakening.

“I don’t like that power. I truly fear it, so when it lost energy and came off my finger, I didn’t feel regret, but rather a sense of relief!” Steve spoke openly and magnanimously about his fear, without any concealment. His tone was steady, yet it possessed a special sense of power.

Vaguely, memories seemed to return to seventy years ago, to the conversation between the scrawny Steve Rogers and German scientist Dr. Erskine.

[You want to go to the battlefield? To kill some Nazis?]

[I don’t want to kill anyone. I don’t like bullets, and I don’t care where they come from.]

“I fear this power of fear, not because I am afraid, but because of the source of this power,” Steve slowly articulated his thoughts, the light growing stronger.

“A powerful force that requires inflicting fear upon others to obtain—I don’t need it!”

“Because I am Steve Rogers, I am Captain America. This name should bring hope to others, not fear.”

An intense light surged from Steve’s body. The blue of hope and the green of will complemented each other, combining to unleash immense power.

The light extended, gradually condensing in the air into a colossal green shark. It possessed an extremely massive body and numerous, very long fins. For some reason, whenever Steve materialized a giant creature, this image frequently formed in his mind.

Sin in the distance revealed an expression of exasperation and anger. She stared furiously at Steve, her blood-red face appearing particularly terrifying.

“Fear! Fear is the most powerful! We possess such immense power, those mortals are only fit to be lambs!” Sin shrieked loudly, her right hand, adorned with the yellow ring, fiercely gripping the Hammer of Fear. The ring’s band touched the hammer’s handle, emitting a piercing screech as a surge of immense power flooded into Sin’s body. She let out a painful scream.

While both the Lantern Ring and the Divine Hammer were linked to the Emotional Spectrum, one was a meticulously researched and learned DC ring, with added new functions and removed original flaws.

However, the Hammer of Fear was a counterfeit product made by a prisoner confined within the Emotional Spectrum. Not only was its quality abysmal, but it also brought back the previously removed flaws and came with an extremely severe intelligence-reducing debuff.

Although both were linked to the emotion of fear, the two had a peculiar repulsion. And when the two weapons came into contact, this repulsion also brought forth extremely powerful force.

And that was Sin’s goal.

A powerful surge of fear erupted from the contact point of the ring and hammer. Amidst the blinding yellow sparks, a long, bizarre, multi-segmented, multi-legged insect seemed to appear, eagerly rushing into Sin’s body. Her body began to undergo irreversible mutation.

Her body was stretched by this force, gradually growing taller. Golden armor, like an insect’s exoskeleton, appeared on her body. A yellow cape extended from behind her in an instant, fluttering in the wind. Golden light enveloped her body, transforming into a massive orb of light. The power of fear was about to consume her entirely.

The next moment, the orb of light suddenly exploded. Sin’s painful mutation ended at an incredibly fast speed, and her new form appeared before Steve.

Her entire body was golden, with grotesque armored plating adorned with some disgusting insect legs. Long, translucent wings extended outwards from her waist. A golden cape fluttered high in the sky. Her mouth had become very large, splitting open into a terrifying grin, with dozens of sharp, tiny teeth pressing against each other.

“So… next round!”

Sin revealed a disgusting smile, then her body suddenly moved, directly causing a sonic boom in the air. The giant hammer emitted a strong yellow light. Her body seemed to subtly transform into a massive yellow insect as she fiercely lunged at Steve.

Steve’s will solidified, hope burst forth, and the enormous green ionic shark fiercely charged towards Sin. The two constructs, symbolizing the most powerful forces of the Lantern Rings, collided violently, igniting a brilliant flash of light.

Finally, a massive explosion occurred. In the confrontation between will and the power of fear, Sin, who had become inhuman, unleashed even greater power. Steve’s body was directly blasted away, plummeting from high in the air. He raised his red and blue shield, barely deflecting the lingering shockwave. Then his body slammed heavily into the ground, creating a massive crater.

Sin revealed an evil grin, then accelerated again, raising her hammer and descending towards the ground. She raised the hammer in her hand, cleverly intending to strike Steve in the places not covered by his shield.

But in the next moment, a powerful repulsor beam shot out from another direction, striking Sin’s body hard. It not only stopped her subsequent attack but also knocked her, unprepared and rapidly diving, off balance, causing her to tumble to the ground in the distance.

A man in golden armor floated in the air, a powerful energy burning in the arc reactor at his waist, and the golden magic cape on his back was exceptionally dazzling.

Tony Stark extended a hand to Steve, a triumphant smile on his face.

“You’re late!” Steve shook his head, grasping Tony’s hand and saying.

“No, the protagonist always makes the last appearance!”
