Dr. Banner hated fighting.

As a physicist, he preferred research to becoming an irrational berserker, smashing and burning everything in sight.

But ever since his experiment went wrong and gave birth to the Hulk, no one cared about his smart brain anymore. All they wanted was the Hulk.

Fortunately, Banner could now suppress the Hulk to some extent, and he was no longer the helpless physicist he once was, but a physicist with special abilities…

A physicist.

Well, even with this special watch, he was still not good at fighting. Almost all the Chitauri present were knocked down by the Hulk, and no matter how hard Dr. Banner tried to dodge enemy attacks, he couldn’t succeed. The Chitauri’s artillery fire hit him without fail.

Strangely enough, compared to the Hulk, the thin Dr. Banner became the meat shield attracting firepower, while the tall, muscular Hulk, ironically, became the damage dealer.

“Hulk! Smash!” The red-bodied Hulk roared, then raised his arms high and slammed them fiercely onto the ground. The strong vibration quickly spread out, shaking the last few Chitauri in front of him into the air.

Then he roared again, punching his arms rapidly, leaving several red afterimages in the air, sending the Chitauri, who were shaken into the air and unable to move, flying away, their bodies embedded in the metal wall.

“Phew~” Dr. Banner exhaled, then turned to the Hulk and nodded at him. “Good job this time, Hulk. Keep it up, and whatever you do, don’t lose control again!”

The Hulk roared again, then nodded, transforming into a red phantom before slowly disappearing.

“Alarm, alarm! Control room breached, control room breached…” Dr. Banner slapped a nearby button, shutting down the room’s alarm system.

“What do we do now?” Loki leaned against the wall, observing the room with interest.

The control room housed many massive computers, their screens projected as hard-light images in the air, though the buttons were physical.

The lights in the room seemed to have been damaged during the previous battle, flickering on and off, looking particularly awkward.

In many corners of the room, there were still incomplete Chitauri corpses, large splatters of blood on the walls, and many shattered body parts encased in ice. The entire room looked like a massacre site.

Dr. Banner tentatively operated the computer. His high-IQ brain quickly understood how to use these alien computers.

“More are coming, we can’t kill them all!” Loki closed his eyes and listened. Regular footsteps echoed from afar, sounding like an even larger number.

“It’s okay, I can handle it…” Dr. Banner pressed several buttons. With a series of loud thuds, three heavy iron doors slammed down at the control room’s entrance and were sealed in various ways, like a fortress.

“I’ve lowered the emergency blast doors. That should hold them for a while,” Dr. Banner said to Loki, exhaling a sigh of relief.

Loki, however, didn’t respond. He walked to another computer, seemingly pressing buttons at random.

“Hey! Loki, don’t just press anything…” Dr. Banner said without looking up. “I hope you didn’t press a button that’ll blow up the entire ship!”

“I won’t,” Loki replied expressionlessly, his body beginning to emit an invisible cold aura, his eyes fixed on the screen.

“My God, what have they done to you?” Icy blue flames of fury burned in Loki’s eyes. On the screen in front of him, several familiar figures appeared.

Volstagg, the portly, bearded warrior who wielded an axe, was now lying on a mechanical bed, his body grotesquely modified. Half of his face had been replaced with machinery, both arms had become two mechanical axes emitting electric sparks, and his chest had been opened, with experimenters adding missiles inside.

Fandral, the flippant, mustachioed dandy who considered himself incomparably dashing, and Hogun, from Vanaheim, with his peculiar accent. They too had not escaped this transformation. Their legs had been severed and replaced with eight sharp, silver metal spider legs, and their torsos had been sewn together back-to-back, allowing them to fight without blind spots.

Fandral’s face was relatively intact, but his brain had been completely scooped out, revealing a silver mechanical brain that looked particularly unsettling. His neck and abdominal cavity were connected, but stretched out a meter long like a bizarre giraffe.

Fandral’s arms had been directly severed and replaced with four flexible silver tentacles, the tips of which had peculiar plasma emitters that could fire a plasma stream over a meter long, like the rapier he had always been so skilled with.

Hogun’s face, however, had been completely altered, his entire head turned to metal, revealing a bizarrely eerie metallic smile that was permanently fixed, instilling fear in anyone who saw his face.

His arms were also modified, his hands gone, replaced by strange indentations. At his waist were two long, peculiar blades, the protrusions on their hilts perfectly matching the indentations on his wrists.

And these two brave warriors were sewn together back-to-back, like grotesque conjoined twins, sending shivers down one’s spine.

Beside them, the female warrior Sif let out continuous, agonizing screams. A helmet had been placed on her head, and strong electric shocks stimulated her brain.

A Chitauri injected a peculiar seed into her right arm. The silver seed entered her skin, constantly wriggling, then burst forth, the silver metal infecting Sif’s arm. Her flesh was consumed and transformed by this silver seed, becoming strange silver nanometal, which quickly condensed into a silver metal arm.

This silver substance continued to spread upwards, quickly reaching her shoulder and attempting to continue its ascent.

Then, it disintegrated into a pile of loose sand.

The silver metallic particles scattered across the floor. For some reason, the nanomachines had lost their function, their internal connections disturbed by some special energy, their movement modules destroyed, and then they scattered on the ground because they could not combine.

“Experiment failed, nanite infection unsuccessful,” a Chitauri whispered, recording the experimental log. Then he pressed the stop button, and Sif, who had been constantly electrocuted and screaming, finally got a moment’s rest. But her arm had been completely devoured by the nanomachines, leaving it empty.

“Hey! I’ve got it handled. I’ve accelerated the ship’s energy system. According to my estimates, this ship will gradually lose power and fall to the ground within 5 minutes,” Dr. Banner turned around and said with a relaxed expression.

“Uh, Loki, what’s wrong?” Dr. Banner stared blankly at Loki.

Loki’s body had turned black and blue, emitting an intense freezing aura. Then he pulled out his chain-blade and plunged it fiercely into a nearby computer, the intense cold quickly freezing the computer into a large chunk of scrap metal.

“We have to save them!” Loki looked up, staring intently at Dr. Banner. “I am the King of Asgard. I cannot stand by and watch my people suffer without doing anything!”

“I must save them!” Loki repeated, his voice now exceptionally low.
