Let me show you a new way Chapter 099

A strong blast of freezing air erupted from Tony’s arm, spraying onto Killian who lay on the ground. The powerful cryomancy, controlled by the armor, quickly froze Killian solid.

“Hmm, this was much simpler than I thought!” Stark shrugged, lightly kicking the ice-encased Killian with his metal-clad foot, producing a crisp clinking sound. He then smiled leisurely and said, “Sir… target temperature is rising rapidly!” Jarvis’s voice echoed in Tony’s ear.

“Shit!” Tony’s face instantly darkened. He couldn’t help but curse, then immediately jumped back. Inside the ice block near Tony, a high temperature emanated. Fiery red light, unable to be contained by the thick ice, radiated heat wantonly. And when the heat accumulated to its peak…

“Boom—” With a loud bang, the ice block suddenly exploded. Countless fragments flew everywhere.

In its place, Killian’s body glowed an even brighter fiery red, flickering erratically. This reminded Tony of the scenes he had witnessed at explosion sites.

For a while now, Tony had mostly stayed home building armors or going to Kamar-Taj to learn magic. He rarely went to the company and didn’t pay much attention to current events.

But during a conversation with his friend Rhode, he inadvertently heard about the Mandarin.

And Tony Stark was indeed a bit bored. Aside from occasionally flying out in his old armor to rescue people, he hadn’t done anything major. So, he was very interested in the Mandarin’s affairs.

At first, Rhode was reluctant to tell him about the Mandarin. He felt that Tony had been acting mysterious lately, with his whereabouts often uncertain, suspecting that his good friend might be in some trouble. But under Tony’s persistent insistence, he revealed some official speculations and explosion locations.

After speaking, Tony put on his armor and left immediately, heading to the most recent explosion site. Rhode, lacking an armor, could only watch him fly away.①

Upon arriving at the explosion site, Tony immediately used the spatial-temporal remnant spell②. After several years of development, this spell had greatly improved compared to Lin Dong’s initial creation, and the duration of time reversal was also longer.

Fortunately, the explosion at the site he found had occurred relatively recently, so reversing time was sufficient to observe the remnant. Tony clearly saw the truth behind the bomb, understanding why officials couldn’t find any bomb debris.

Because there was no debris at all, only a person.

A real, living person!

A person whose body turned red, whose temperature rose uncontrollably, and who finally exploded.

“Killian, you’re starting to lose control!” Tony warned. He stared intently at the energy data displayed on the panel inside his helmet, calculating that Killian’s energy data was still rising wildly. “If you don’t control yourself, you’ll explode!” Tony warned Killian, but it was clear he wasn’t listening.

Killian’s plan had been completely disrupted, and his life had once again been ruined by Tony Stark. He now had only one goal in life: to kill Tony Stark. As for everything else, he no longer cared.

Killian roared defiantly at Tony, spewing small flames from his mouth like a true lava demon.

“Hey! Listen, you need to calm down! Otherwise, I’ll force you to cool down!” Tony Stark inadvertently made another pun about freezing, then raised his hands, aiming his palm-mounted cryo-repulsor cannons at Killian in a stance very familiar to onlookers.

“Calm down? I am perfectly calm right now!” Killian shouted.

“You always ruin my plans, you’re always arrogant and conceited, you look down on everyone else!” Killian yelled. Strangely, he seemed to be affected by some force. Although his body was still emitting high heat, he didn’t attack but instead began to ramble about his painful history.

“I invited you to join my plan, I actually thought you listened, so I waited on the rooftop as you said.” Killian rambled on, just like all villains. The difference was that those villains usually started rambling about their past when they had the upper hand, but Killian, despite being pummeled by Tony, inexplicably began to recall the past.

Tony Stark, standing nearby, seemed to notice something. He used this time to conjure a Mirror Dimension spell with his armor, ready to cast it at any moment.

Once the Mirror Dimension spell was cast, everything within the Mirror Dimension would be protected from destruction. This meant that even if Killian lost control and exploded, it wouldn’t harm the surrounding civilians.

The reason he hadn’t cast it yet was primarily because Killian’s situation was very unusual. He seemed to be under the influence of some strange mental magic, constantly reliving the past. So Tony adjusted his armor’s detection functions to monitor all nearby movements, especially if a sorcerer appeared, he needed to react immediately.

Meanwhile, Killian continued his monologue.

“For the first twenty minutes, I really thought you would come, but after an hour, I gave up. I was ready to take that step, to fall directly from the rooftop.”

“But then I changed my mind. I stood in the cold wind and swore that I couldn’t end my life like this. I wanted revenge, I wanted to hide myself, so I created the image of the Mandarin…” Killian mumbled incessantly. Tony Stark, standing nearby, couldn’t believe that this idiot would openly admit that the Mandarin was an image he created.

But in the next moment, an unfamiliar voice interrupted his narration.

“Your experience is just like ‘The Incredibles’③…” Lin Dong descended from the sky, mercilessly mocking him. He held an unconscious person in one hand, while a faint green light emanated from a ring on his other hand. The light of compassion caused Killian to involuntarily pour out his grievances.

Lin Dong, however, felt a sense of déjà vu that left him speechless.

“You were once a worshiper of Tony Stark, you wanted to work with him, but he broke your heart and pushed you to the extreme, so you became a supervillain…”

“You are Mr. Incredible…” Lin Dong pointed to a bewildered Tony Stark.

“And you are Syndrome…”

Lin Dong landed from the air, throwing the person he was holding onto the ground. It was an Extremis-enhanced individual who had come with Killian. If Lin Dong hadn’t knocked him out in the shadows, this guy would have taken the opportunity to cause chaos among the crowd.

“Stark, long time no see! This world is in great crisis, we need to find some allies.” Lin Dong looked at the bewildered Tony Stark.

“We need to find an Asgardian who has been hiding on Earth for several years.”
