“Can you track her?” Nick Fury asked, standing in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s information processing room. Several agents responsible for big data tracking were staring intently at their screens, where streams of data flowed. Nick Fury pretended to understand, watching the screens with a knowing look.

“Almost, sir. Miss Foster is an astrophysicist; it’s clear she’s not good at concealing her information,” an agent said without looking up.

They were currently extracting useful information from surveillance feeds, public reports, and other data to pinpoint Jane Foster’s location.

“Wait… what’s going on? Impossible!” a researcher suddenly shouted. Then all the computers hummed strangely, as if overloaded.

The next moment, all their computers were forcibly taken over. A mechanical face, like a mask, appeared on the screens. Its mouth opened and closed, speaking these words:

“What do you want to do?” the mechanical face asked.

“Miss Foster, let us explain. You becoming like this wasn’t due to our modifications. We merely…” Nick Fury walked to the computer’s camera and spoke to it.

“I know!” the mechanical face on the computer interrupted Nick Fury’s explanation. “I found your surveillance footage.”

Jane Foster didn’t seem as irrational as when she fled. She appeared to have sorted out her situation and begun to utilize her modified body.

“Then, Miss Foster, perhaps we can cooperate to some extent…” Nick Fury began his usual recruitment pitch, offering a position to anyone with special abilities, inviting them to join his superhero team.

“Cooperation?” The mechanical part on the computer, like a real face, showed a sarcastic smile. “Cooperation is a two-way street. What can you give me?”

“I remember you still have parents…” Nick Fury said unhurriedly.

“Don’t drag my parents into this!” the face on the computer roared.

“No, no, no! Don’t misunderstand, Miss Foster. We don’t intend to do anything to your parents. I just believe that your current situation might not be suitable for meeting them. So we will offer you a job and provide you with the necessary funds. As for your parents, they will receive the money you send in a completely legal manner. We can even help you return to your normal self,” Nick Fury said calmly. It was clear he had prepared these words for a long time.

Jane Foster seemed to be moved. The face on the computer remained still for a long time. However, just when everyone suspected she had left, the computer spoke again.

“Nick Fury! Director of S.H.I.E.L.D…. Heh, what a legendary resume! Oh! You even tried to recruit Tony Stark? It’s a shame you failed…” Jane Foster suddenly brought up unrelated matters. Then, an agent quickly whispered in his ear, “A large amount of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s network data has been stolen. Their offensive is fierce; we have no power to resist. Should we initiate a physical network shutdown?”

“Miss Foster, please stop!” Nick Fury said. Clearly, Jane Foster was demonstrating her power. “Talking through a computer is always inconvenient. How about you name a location, and I’ll come in person? I promise not to bring any soldiers.”

“Oh? Is that so?” A woman’s voice suddenly rang out from outside the door. All the agents quickly reacted, raising their guns and aiming at the door behind them. Then the door slowly opened, and a silver-gray figure entered their sight.

She was a robot; anyone seeing her would say so, but they wouldn’t use the pronoun “it” because she felt very feminine.

Her body was made of smooth silver metal, covered by a layer of metal-simulated tight-fitting long dress. Half of her eye and head were covered by metal of the same texture, and her eye emitted a warm blue glow. Her chin was also metallic, with only her nose, mouth, and right half of her eye remaining intact. The beautiful human skin and the cold, elegant texture of the metal formed a strong contrast, making her not terrifying but rather possessing a unique sexiness.

A blue gem was embedded in her brow!

“You want to talk? Fine!” Jane Foster leaned against the door, boredly examining her metallic fingernails. Her voice had a metallic quality, like a sharp blade—deadly yet beautiful.

Nick Fury extended his hand, signaling the agents to lower their raised pistols. He cautiously watched the half-cyborg in front of him, seemingly silently assessing her threat level.

“You want to cooperate with me? Alright, I’ll give you this chance.” Jane Foster extended her arm, and with a series of hissing and clanking sounds, it transformed into a massive cannon barrel. Seeing this, the surrounding agents again nervously raised their guns, regardless of whether they could harm her.

Jane Foster didn’t shoot at anyone but fired a blast into the air. With a “boom,” a blue portal burst open in the air.

“If you want to cooperate, follow me!” Jane Foster said, then strode into the portal without hesitation.

Nick Fury glanced at the surrounding agents, who all used expressions and gestures to advise him to decline Jane Foster’s invitation.

But he still walked in without hesitation.

After a blur of light and shadow, he appeared in a vast desert, where a strange runic symbol lay on the ground.

“This is where Thor descended!” Jane Foster said, her voice filled with nostalgia. “I drove into him here and then took him to the hospital.”

Nick Fury nodded. His implanted communicator seemed to have lost its effectiveness; no agents contacted him, even though the nearest S.H.I.E.L.D. base was only a few kilometers away.

“I remember this mark was covered up!” Nick Fury said, looking at the runes on the ground. These were the traces left by the Bifrost teleportation.

“You did cover it up, but I restored it,” Jane Foster said casually. Her silver body reflected dazzling light under the sun.

Then Jane Foster extended her right hand again, transforming it into a cannon barrel. Nick Fury carefully observed her movements when she opened the portal.

He could clearly see that before Jane Foster’s cannon fired, the brightness of the gem on her brow subtly increased for a fleeting moment, as if transferring a portion of energy into her arm. Then the cannon fired a blue stream of light, opening a portal in the air.

“Follow me,” Jane Foster said, then stepped into the portal without hesitation.

Nick Fury sighed and followed.
