Hogwarts Card System Chapter 299

Chapter 299: The Sky is Cracking!

The magical network brought about tremendous changes to the wizarding world.

Because they were too isolated from the Muggle world, most wizards were unaware of the current developments in Muggle society.

Even the textbooks for Muggle Studies were written eighty years ago! They were long outdated!

So, forget about the internet, most of them didn’t even know what a telephone was for.

But now, wizards, through Ted’s Two-Way Mirror hotspot, had already completed video calls within Great Britain!

They could even play games online!

When Mr. Granger saw that the mirror his daughter always carried could do so many things, he was completely stunned!

As a doctor, he had more exposure to technological developments, but he never imagined that wizards could achieve such a level!

Although London opened the world’s first internet café this year, it was far from capable of doing such things!

And according to Hermione, this was something Ted and a group of young wizards had created!

To allow hundreds of people to connect, meet, and play games together anywhere in the entire UK?!

What if a group of adult wizards got together? They would surely rule the world!

Hermione was amused by this and gave her father a detailed introduction to the Minister for Magic, Fudge~

To her surprise, Mr. Granger just smiled faintly after listening: “It seems the Minister for Magic still needs to be appointed by the Cabinet! This Fudge’s actions clearly show he’s a bureaucrat from the Cabinet!”

It’s worth noting that a great British work, “Yes, Prime Minister,” began airing in 1986.

It was clear that the British understood the British.

Ted informed Hermione that he had arrived.

Hermione and Mr. Granger waited for him at the garden gate.

Seeing Ted step out of a taxi carrying a small suitcase, Mr. Granger’s expression was a little strange.

After Ted paid and the taxi left, he spoke, “I thought you’d just ‘whoosh’ in, or ride a broomstick or something. Oh, right, Mr. Weasley’s flying car is also very good~”

Ted smiled, “While I could do that, to minimize trouble, I chose to take a taxi. Plus, I can chat with the driver about the London weather, can’t I?”

“Hahahaha!” Mr. Granger burst out laughing, slapping Ted on the shoulder.

It was then that he noticed how tall Ted had grown.

Ted continued, “As for that flying car, although it almost got lost, it’s back now. But I can’t drive it, because according to Mr. Weasley’s own laws, while it’s legal to manufacture it, it’s not legal to drive it~”

“Hahahaha~” Mr. Granger felt his stomach ache from laughing.

Indeed, it was the same everywhere!

Muggles or wizards, they were all British!

That tiny bit of barrier between different groups completely dissolved in Ted’s few words. They returned to their most enjoyable state of interaction.

Mrs. Granger prepared a large feast to welcome Ted, including fruit mince pies.

She also apologized to Ted, explaining that fruit mince pies had become popular, spreading from the couple and soon becoming a hit throughout half of London.

Then, when television stations interviewed them, since they couldn’t say Ted taught them, Mrs. Granger had to claim she “invented” them.

Ted naturally had no ill will about this and even taught her several Hogwarts recipes that ordinary people could make.

After dinner, Ted chatted with Hermione and toured her room.

He discussed mechanization and recent technological changes with Mr. Granger, and the differences between Muggles and wizards.

He talked about garden flowers and cooking with Mrs. Granger, and even promised to help her find some magical flower seeds.

Ted: If I can’t find them, I’ll have Neville cultivate some new varieties! This must be done!

In short, everyone enjoyed themselves.

He stayed for three days, touring around with the Granger family, cooking and eating together… before finally bidding farewell.

The active animagus transformation being able to immunize against werewolf infection was a very important clue.

The previous generation of the Hogwarts Four spent every full moon night in the Shrieking Shack.

Old Potter transformed into Padfoot the stag, pinning Remus the werewolf against the wall, while Sirius Black as the black dog bit the werewolf’s leg, and Peter the rat cheered them on from the corner… They would confront the werewolf like this every month, making him howl.

They were practically masters at dealing with werewolves.

So, Transfiguration definitely had potential to counteract werewolf transformation. If Remus had also become an Animagus back then, it’s hard to say what changes might have occurred.

In the lab, Ted was further separating the werewolf magic.

During this time, Remus couldn’t eat at all, and even had to try his best to deplete his magic, avoiding any interference, to provide the most original werewolf magic for Ted’s research.

Remus was so hungry! His eyes were glowing green!

Ted discovered that the closer he got to primitive desires, the stronger his lupine reactions became. For example, hunger—hunger would accelerate and stimulate werewolf transformation.

Although Remus was a bit down on his luck after graduating, as a wizard, he never really had to worry about food. So he hadn’t experienced much hunger and truly didn’t know this.

And now, he was so hungry that his rationality was almost devoured. When no one was watching, he ate.

He pried open and ate several cans of pet food that Ted had bought for his many pets!

This dog food tasted great; from Ansu to Annie, from Little Soft to Rat Junior, everyone loved it. But Remus devoured several cans.

“Oh! You’re eating! I was just about to bring you something. What smells so good?” Sirius came in, putting down his food basket and sniffing.

By the time Ted noticed, the two of them had devoured over twenty cans of dog food.

Sirius even asked, “Where did you buy this? What brand?! Muggle-made stuff is really not bad! It tastes better than what my house-elf makes!”

Ted glanced at the two of them, then at the dog food, not daring to tell the truth.

Well, it was professionally appropriate, and it wouldn’t harm anyone, right?

Remus, after all, was considered a “famous detective” in London and had his own career and connections.

When he wasn’t being researched, he was handling affairs.

Now, the detective agency had hired a group of people, and Tonks often came to help.

It seemed that their intimate relationship was confirmed. Tonks’s hair was pink now~

One day, Ted visited the detective agency and found Remus frowning, looking at a stack of documents.

He asked, “What’s wrong? Another perverted killer in London?!”

Remus often helped the police department solve major cases, acting as an external consultant.

Remus shook his head, “In the past year, mysterious incidents have been increasing. Look, this boy’s leg has been hurting constantly.”

Ted glanced at the photo; it was a young boy whose leg had been amputated.

“His left leg was amputated a year ago. But now he always feels as if his left leg is being bitten by countless insects, to the point where he can’t sleep.”

In medicine, this is called phantom limb pain.

The problem is, with psychological or mental issues like this, you really can’t be sure.

All kinds of physical therapy, medication, and psychological guidance had been tried, but nothing worked!

The boy was now emaciated from the torment.

Because Remus had a somewhat subtle reputation for handling difficult problems, the boy’s desperate parents sought him out.

Ted looked at the boy’s expression in the photo and found it intriguing.

“How about this, I’ll meet him.”

In the afternoon, Ted arrived at the boy’s home.

Although the boy’s parents found it unreliable for a young man to handle their son’s problem, since he was already there, they let Ted meet the boy.

Ted could feel that the boy’s pain was real; this was not pain caused by hallucination. It was a pain involving spiritual energy!

This was a pleasant surprise. Could the boy be a spiritual energy adapter?

It wasn’t impossible; any sentient being theoretically had the chance to awaken spiritual energy.

Especially individuals who had experienced great misfortune, or even physical disfigurement, such intense suffering and psychological changes were prone to trigger spiritual energy.

Ted looked at the top of the boy’s head and felt a faint, ethereal psychic connection.

He asked the boy’s father, “Where did you put Chris’s leg?”

“Buried under the tree in the backyard,” Chris’s father said with a heavy voice.

Ted went to the backyard tree and started digging with a shovel.

In a pit over a meter deep, he encountered a wooden box that had already begun to rot. Prying open the box revealed half a leg that had turned into bones, and a large number of ants.

This place had become an ant colony!

Chris’s pain, as if his leg was being bitten by countless insects, was not a hallucination…

Finally, the leg bone was burned to ashes and scattered into the river, and the matter was resolved.

“Sir, may I ask how old Chris is this year?”

“He’ll be 11 in half a month.”

“Oh, the matter is resolved, I should go now.”

“How should I pay you?”

“No, it’s not necessary.” Ted smiled.

Perhaps we will meet again someday!

On the way back, Ted was thinking: logically, the boy Chris shouldn’t have such keen perception.

This was a manifestation of psychic energy overflowing from the body and connecting to the severed limb.

Many phenomena indicate that when the soul leaves the body, it can still feel some sensations experienced by the body, such as hot or cold.

Matter to non-material medium, then to spirit—this is a complete world.

There are many non-material mediums: psychic energy is one, magic is another, and other mysterious forces are also.

Many ancient rituals and blood sacrifices were performed to communicate with the non-material realm, thereby receiving information or revelations from the spiritual world.

The offerings required for sacrifices were not material, but emotional fluctuations.

If the strong demand of termites for their queen is considered an emotional fluctuation, then the idea that the queen can shape a non-material biological field and influence the ant colony becomes more plausible.

And when the spirits of many individuals align due to certain reasons, a collective consciousness is born.

The power of this collective consciousness is immense, capable of even changing the material world.

When widespread emotional resonance occurs, the material universe will also change accordingly.

And the collective consciousness changes the world in an instant, and it’s from beginning to end, you can’t even prove that anything has changed—like the Mandela Effect.

This world may have already changed, but for us, it’s just a Mandela Effect.

Every civilization has had beliefs in blood sacrifice, but civilizations that have survived to this day have undergone extremely dark and cruel experiences to eradicate these ancient beliefs. To make people completely forget Them!

This world is changing…

That night, Ted uncharacteristically had a dream: he dreamed that countless cracks appeared in the sky!
