Chapter 290: Werewolf Improvement Experiment!

Ted had just sent Snape back to his office. Snape had his own medicine, so Ted didn’t need to worry about the rest.

Before he even had a chance to check on his friends, he received a plea for help from Sirius.

“Ted! We need your help, quick! It’s almost dark!”

Ted was startled at first, thinking Sirius and the others had encountered enemies on the way. But then he heard “dark” and suddenly remembered, wasn’t it the full moon tonight?

Lupin didn’t bring his medicine? Damn it! These accidents just kept coming!

Actually, Lupin did bring his medicine. He was more cautious about such things than anyone else. It was just that the Wolfsbane Potion had shattered during the battle in the Shrieking Shack.

After they had buried Peter Pettigrew and mourned for a while, Lupin’s face turned grim as he patted his pocket. Well, it was shattered!

The sun had already set, and as soon as he saw the moon, he would transform.

Sirius didn’t dare take the risk and had locked Lupin inside the Shrieking Shack—a repeat of yesterday. He urged Ted to come quickly. If Ted ran fast with the Wolfsbane Potion, he might make it in time for Lupin to drink it before transforming.

If not, they would have to guard the Shrieking Shack, prevent anyone from discovering them, and keep Lupin from escaping.

Unfortunately, Ted hadn’t left a teleportation point in the village. He could only transform into a shadow raven, fly out of the school grounds, and then Apparate to the location.

As soon as he landed and saw Sirius off to the side, he heard Lupin’s inhuman growls from inside the shack.

He had already begun to change.

“Let’s guard it from here,” Sirius said dejectedly.

His once magnificent clothes were now wrinkled and covered in mud, and he looked incredibly haggard and disheveled, like a vagrant who had been up for several nights.

Today’s events had been a huge blow to everyone involved.

This was something Ted didn’t want to see. He had originally thought it was an opportunity for the two of them to avenge the Potters. Instead, Snape had successfully avenged himself but looked like he was injured again.

And the two of them had once again experienced the death of a friend, personally burying a close friend who had betrayed their friendship.

Ted felt that he had, to some extent, had good intentions but caused bad results.

If he had known this would happen, he would have just quietly taken care of Peter himself and been done with it!

He felt a bit apologetic, but only a little, after all, his intentions were good. It was just that their emotional entanglements were too complex, and he really hadn’t expected it.

Ted looked up at the sky. It was clear and cloudless. A golden full moon hung in the sky.

Strange noises kept coming from inside the Shrieking Shack—the sound of clawing at the door and tearing things apart. If the villagers discovered that the Shrieking Shack was screaming again, it would be troublesome.

Ted said to Sirius, who was sitting on a rock, “I’ll handle Lupin.”

With that, he waved his hand, and the reinforced wooden door, which had been sealed, suddenly opened.

“Don’t!” As Sirius reached out, the tall, hunched, furry figure appeared, its two eyes glowing a sickly green.

Before Lupin could pounce out, Ted extended his hand, and a cloud of green gas sprayed onto its face. A foul stench immediately permeated the air!

The werewolf Lupin immediately let out a miserable howl and collapsed to the ground, kicking and struggling wildly. Its claws desperately covered its nose, looking as if it was about to faint. It was even frothing at the mouth!

Ted’s eyes emitted a faint white light. His psychic energy directly penetrated the heavily damaged werewolf’s mind, like a glowing iron chain, locking down the illusory werewolf figure representing its wildness and dragging it into a glowing iron cage.

Then the werewolf Lupin became still, its eyes still slightly open but empty and lifeless; its tongue was hanging out, touching the dirt on the ground.

“Th-this is…” Sirius was a little stunned.

Werewolves were deeply detested by many wizards because they were truly difficult to deal with.

Especially after a complete transformation, they were at least + 3 in magic resistance.

Coupled with the wizard’s own magic resistance, it was often 5 or 6 levels of resistance, making most wizarding spells useless.

This made werewolves extremely dangerous on a full moon night.

If they could be easily subdued, werewolves wouldn’t be so ostracized.

As it turned out, Lupin, at his level, was completely transformed and subdued by Ted with a foul odor (Stinking Cloud spell)?

The Stinking Cloud spell was powerful, especially against enemies with sensitive senses of smell. If inhaled for a long time, it could even cause death by stench!

Sirius couldn’t help but cover his nose and retreat a bit. His nose was very sensitive, a benefit of his Animagus form.

But if this thing could subdue the werewolf Lupin, it would definitely be a lethal blow for the black dog Sirius!

Of course, the most important thing was actually the Mind Lock.

However, Ted’s back was to him when he cast it, so he didn’t see Ted’s eyes glowing.

A werewolf that sleeps soundly is a good werewolf!

Ted and Sirius carried him into the shop Ted had bought.

Ted began to take out scissors, collecting hair and nails, and even drew some blood.

If Sirius hadn’t been there, he would have really wanted to pull out a tooth.

Facing Sirius’s strange gaze, Ted said righteously, “I’ve made great progress in my Transfiguration research recently…”

As soon as he finished speaking, his entire body suddenly transformed into a wisp of black smoke, turning into a large black raven that flew around the room before flying back.

“Animagus?!” Sirius exclaimed.

He and his friends were considered excellent students back then, but they only successfully mastered Animagus in their fifth year.

The requirements for that were too abnormal!

Yet, this young man in front of him had mastered it in his third year?!

Then Ted spoke, “Not quite. This is another type of Transfiguration, not Animagus. That’s why I said I’ve made progress in Transfiguration research recently…”

“You must have experienced it, right? Werewolves won’t infect wizards in their Animagus form… So, according to my hypothesis, continuing to develop along this research direction might be able to solve Lupin’s werewolf problem.”

“Really?!” Sirius stood up excitedly, knocking over his teacup.

Ted nodded, “There’s a high probability. I’ve always suspected that werewolves are an incomplete form of Transfiguration, which led to infectious and hereditary effects.”

“As long as we can use Transfiguration to perfect or encompass this werewolf transformation, we can completely solve the problems of uncontrolled transformation and loss of consciousness.”

Ted briefly explained the theory of Azeroth’s druid shapeshifting to Sirius, and the more Sirius listened, the more he felt it had potential.

He was also an expert in Transfiguration and could discern whether a theory was feasible.

However, there would undoubtedly be many difficulties to overcome in this process, but at least there was a direction and hope. Unlike before, it was practically a terminal illness.

When the Wolfsbane Potion first came out, many werewolves were so excited they cried.

But this potion was expensive and difficult to make, making it impossible to popularize.

Thus, Ted and Sirius conducted experiments in the makeshift, simple laboratory for most of the night. Finally, Sirius, who had been exhausted by the many sad events of the day, fell asleep directly.

Ted gave him some sleeping potion and began to experiment on Lupin alone.

Finally, at dawn, he obtained a small bottle of the Werewolf Curse—a crystal vial containing a constantly swirling mass of gray liquid.

This was a mutated magic, with a special consciousness rooted within it.

When this thing integrated into the body, it would pollute one’s own magic, thereby being stimulated and triggered during the last full moon, causing beastiality to overwhelm humanity.

Other wizards must have extracted this thing before, but they never found a solution.

Ted’s line of thinking was correct; he needed to change his approach—or rather, adopt an approach from another world.

If you can’t solve it, join it!

After that, Ted spent most of his time researching werewolves with Lupin. Sirius would attend online meetings through the fireplace via a unique “Fire Message Charm” after school every day.

After a week of discussion and research, Ted invited Professor McGonagall to join them.

Although she was very displeased that her students were privately participating in such a terrifying and dangerous research topic as werewolf transformation, so much so that Sirius and the other two shrank their necks and dared not argue, she ultimately joined them.

After all, the Transfiguration theory Ted proposed, if not completely overturning traditional Transfiguration, at least opened up a second path, which was simply irresistible for a Transfiguration professor.

Moreover, according to the theory they were currently developing, it indeed had the potential to be realized.

If they could truly solve the werewolf problem for the wizarding world, it would be a contribution that would benefit generations to come.

However, after about a week of work, they were stuck again with the third round of alchemical potion experiments.

Ted was already considered a comprehensive talent in this area: Transfiguration at level 6, Potions at level 5, and Alchemy at level 4. This level of skill shocked the other three.

Although they were accustomed to Ted’s talent, it was one thing to achieve such accomplishments in a single field. They could adapt to that. But how did he manage to reach such a level in all these different categories?

To delve deeply into Alchemy, every step required extensive experimentation, and each experiment was very expensive.

Ted had actually reached this level at such a young age?!

McGonagall even said: Even Dumbledore couldn’t have raised Alchemy to this level at 14. Perhaps Nicolas Flamel could achieve such a feat?!

Given the average level of Alchemy among British wizards, which was lower than the global magical community, he could already teach young wizards Alchemy at school.

The things Ted had done in the past two years had shocked them time and time again, but experiencing such profound shock was a first.

However, even Ted, a comprehensive talent, was stuck.

Finally, everyone unanimously decided: Go quickly to the Headmaster’s office and ask Dumbledore~
