Hogwarts Card System Chapter 277

Chapter 278: Game Second Beta

Soon, the game’s second internal beta version was released.

There were still many flaws this time, but the progress was immense.

At least the basic framework of the game was complete.

It was much better than the unidentifiable mess from last time.

Now, it was a matter of continuously patching loopholes, fixing bugs, perfecting details, and optimizing the overall and various branching systems.

During the second internal beta, the twins brought in their good roommate and best friend, Li Qiaodan, to test the story mode they had developed.

The so-called story mode involved experiencing the classic battles that Gryffindor had gone through in the Book of Adventures.

And the two of them, in their morbid enthusiasm, fixed the character’s age to Gryffindor’s age.

Li Qiaodan put on the magic-guided gaming glasses and, immersed in the experience, transformed into a 10-year-old child, chased by two Red Caps for two miles, and stabbed eight times…

He screamed with the glasses on, crawling over twenty meters on the ground. The twins, along with Ron and Jerry, couldn’t hold him down, all four of them.

It was clear that this was truly an immersive experience!

This led to Li Qiaodan feeling that Red Caps were terrifying for many years afterward…

However, the twins still felt it wasn’t quite enough, because compared to the reality of the Book of Adventures, the magic-guided gaming glasses still felt a bit fake. But in such a tense situation, players couldn’t notice the details at all.

They also planned to continue optimizing it, making it more realistic, and making the pain feel real too.

Not to mention experiencing being trampled into mud by a land dragon in the Book of Adventures like themselves, but at least five-tenths of the pain should be achieved, right?

Otherwise, how could they have the nerve to say they were letting everyone enjoy Gryffindor’s teachings?!

And the second internal beta brought another surprise to Ted—he actually gained experience through the game!

Not like gaining experience from fighting monsters in the Book of Adventures.

Instead, he gained experience when the little wizards played the game.

Although it wasn’t much, this was a stable source of experience.

And Ted felt that if he continued to develop and refine the game, it might increase the experience income players brought him.

If the game became popular in the future, he could probably reach level 20 by the time he was twenty, just by relying on the experience gained from the game every day!

This instantly ignited Ted’s enthusiasm!

As the saying goes, there are no secrets at Hogwarts. Here, as soon as a second little wizard knows something, it quickly spreads throughout the entire school.

Not to mention that there were 16 little wizards directly involved in developing the game, over a dozen indirectly involved, and twenty or so specially invited little wizard players to participate in the second beta…

“Ted and his gang are working on a grand plan that will go down in history and change the course of magical history!”

Such news quickly spread throughout the school, from the 6th graders preparing for their graduation exams next year, down to the 1st graders who had just enrolled this year. The discussions were incredibly heated.

In just one morning, by lunchtime, twelve iterated versions had already appeared.

Some even said that Ted and his group were engaged in some evil research and could start working at Azkaban without even graduating.

This version was spread by Slytherin students, because not a single student from their house participated in the game development.

This made them extremely jealous and resentful.

The matter became so big that Professor McGonagall soon found out.

So, Ted was called to her office for a talk.

In the office, the fire in the fireplace burned cheerfully, and the temperature was just right.

Professor McGonagall wore a pair of rimless glasses and was grading homework.

These crystal glasses were a gift from Ted!

Child, why did you spend your money on this?

Professor, I made this with materials I bought. It didn’t cost much, it’s mostly a token of my regard.

That’s more like it. Don’t do it again next time!

No wonder Professor McGonagall liked Ted so much…

Professor McGonagall put down her quill, looked up, and pushed up her glasses. “I thought you had matured and become more steady!” she said with a tone of disappointment.

Previously, when Ted completed his Shadow Raven transformation, Professor McGonagall thought he had achieved Animagus, and she was overjoyed.

So, she hadn’t paid much attention to Ted’s after-school time recently.

She never expected him to be involved in some magical game, and to have a team of twenty or thirty people, known throughout the school!

It was one thing to be neglecting his studies, but to be so ostentatious about it. As an exemplary student, he wasn’t setting a good example!

Dumbledore was strongly suggesting that professors teach more practical knowledge and improve the combat strength of young wizards. Didn’t he understand what that meant?

It must be said that in the minds of some discerning people, the changes in the world were clear.

Such things were hard to speak of, but smart people would prepare early.

Ted immediately began to quibble, oh no, explain:

“Professor, it’s like this. I was actually worried that students would become addicted to playing. So, this magical game I developed is actually about educating through entertainment!”

So, he bluffed, oh no, explained his “Young Wizard Game Re-education Plan” to Professor McGonagall.

First, he mentioned the Weasley twins’ idea (to beat up players), to make the young wizards feel the cruelty and reality of combat.

To increase combat experience and prevent them from panicking when caught off guard.

Then there was Hermione’s magic card plan. To use or even create their own unique magic cards, they first needed to know the magic.

This was just the usage threshold. To create a magic card, one needed to be very proficient in that magic and also understand some runic knowledge.

Other game content was the same: magical plants required proficiency in magical plant knowledge, magical creatures required proficiency in magical creature knowledge. Even in combat modes, magic control would affect the control effect, probably like ping.

If magic control was poor, it would feel very laggy.

Therefore, to become very proficient in the game, you had to study very hard!

Ted: Plan approved!

Professor McGonagall was surprised to hear this: Can it be done this way?

Actually, it wasn’t a new teaching method. Decades ago, when Professor McGonagall was still a student, some professors already used education through entertainment.

For example, games like Magical Tenpin Bowling required magic and wand control to be completed well. They could train a young wizard’s magic control in a game.

It was just that in recent years, there were fewer fun professors, so this mode wasn’t as common.

However, Hagrid’s Care of Magical Creatures class was also a similar type.

Learning about magical creatures through feeding and caring for them.

So, Ted’s explanation made sense.

Professor McGonagall pursed her lips: “Alright, keep the noise down. I will review it once it’s complete! Go back and rest.”

The game wasn’t even finished, and a review system had already appeared~

The third internal beta began. In addition to the development team members, thirty-six trial players were selected.

This time, quite a lot of content was open, including the “story mode” handled by the Weasley twins, which focused on hardcore action and repetitive torment.

Their good roommate, Hogwarts Quidditch five-star reviewer Li Qiaodan, commented on this game mode:

“Before entering the game, go to the bathroom to empty out metabolic waste… Only the toughest of tough guys will choose to play a second time after their first game… If you don’t die five, six, seven, or eight times in each level, you can’t even talk about passing it…”

There was also Hermione’s magic card mode, which also had two types: dueling and level progression.

The former was a duel between two players, while the latter involved building a deck from random cards obtained in game levels and attempting to pass the level.

This was Ravenclaws’ favorite mode. Defeating opponents and clearing levels with a good hand of cards was truly worthy of their high intelligence!

It’s worth noting that the Slytherin trial wizards who were invited also liked this mode very much.

Mainly, Ted, after Professor McGonagall’s suggestion, considered the issue of unity, so he specifically recruited Slytherin players and even selected a few to join the development team.

Regardless, Hogwarts was a whole.

Voldemort’s existence had already created cracks in the school, and he couldn’t deepen this rift.

Uniting all forces that could be united was the teaching of great men. Pure-blood families were naturally also targets for unity.

Besides, dividing and conquering has always been the best way to dismantle enemies!

And the most popular game mode was Wizard League!

That’s right, even half the name was plagiarized.

Plagiarism! How can a scholar’s work be considered plagiarism?

Even though it required ten people to start a game, players were already lining up.

Ted had to temporarily bring out another gaming table to allow more players to join.

How to put it, everyone was a noob when they first started playing.

But soon, some people stood out, like Hally, who was particularly good at combat. Even controlling chess pieces in combat, she was quite skilled.

There were also those who were clumsy at controlling, like Ron.

He used the “Hero Chess Piece—Golem” made by Ted and missed his ultimate three times in a row, causing his two older brothers to block him. They would never be on the same team with him again.

However, Ron also had a hero he excelled at, “Barbecue Golem—Rumble,” whose barbecue skills were very strong in lane.

Top laner Rumble Ron: “Haven’t you heard? Place your ultimate vertically, and your gold will definitely be great.”

Jungler Twitch Jerry: “Then how’s your gold?”

Top laner Rumble Ron: “Not so good.”

Mid laner Iron Fist Chu Yuxun Hally: “You missed all your ultimates, it’d be strange if your gold was good!”

Besides these, there were also more niche game modes, such as Ted’s classic adventure mode: Red Iron Ridge Redemption 2: Northeast Chronicles of Marshal Ma’s Salvation.

How to say it, the young wizards were still young and couldn’t grasp that profound dark humor. When they entered society and became office workers for many years, looking back at this game, they would surely understand Ted’s painstaking efforts!
