Chapter 254: Saintly Hermione and Trelawney’s Prophecy

And so, Neville gained another subject in his extracurricular tutoring—Holy Light!

The breathing technique required honing the physique and breath, strengthening bodily energy to overflow and produce effects.

Holy Light, however, required honing the will and mind, strengthening mental energy to project and transform into Holy Light.

Hmm, no conflict there.

Unbeknownst to him, Neville’s Warrior level had already reached level 3, only one level behind his Wizard profession!

Neville was already level 7 ( 4th level Wizard/3rd level Warrior) without even realizing it!

He was growing so fast!

What Ted hadn’t expected was that Hermione actually showed some talent for Holy Light!

After a series of attempts and practice, she discovered that she could integrate this radiant, golden positive energy into defensive and healing spells!

She simply treated this energy as a positive magical force. The Holy Light Shield Charm, infused with Holy Light, was, in terms of pure defensive power, no worse than Ted’s Safety Helmet Charm of the same level. It just wasn’t as versatile in its functionality.

Even so, it was a huge improvement; its defensive power had more than doubled compared to her previous Shield Charm!

She even took the time to learn a few healing spells from Madam Pomfrey at the hospital wing.

Looking at it this way, exchanging that otherworldly knowledge was worth it.

600 experience for two people!

Divination class.

Today, they were learning how to use a crystal ball for divination.

The crystal balls here were different from those found on the market; they contained a slowly rotating mist.

Before performing the divination, one had to sprinkle a circle of salt around the crystal ball to prevent interference from external, cluttered magical energy.

Then, pressing a hand onto the crystal ball and injecting magic, one had to look… look! Look~ look…

“Hmph~~~” Ron was engrossed, resting his arm and falling asleep, even snoring.

Jerry quickly nudged him awake.

“What are you doing! Be serious! This is learning divination. If I learn it, I’ll be picking up money everywhere later.”

At the mention of money, Ron perked up a bit. He stared intently at the crystal ball, but besides the slowly rotating mist, he still couldn’t see anything. It made him so sleepy!

“Did you see anything?” he asked.

Jerry frowned, his face scrunched up: “Almost!”

“But I only saw mist!”

“Mist? Yes, it’s mist. But what could mist represent?”

Suddenly, Jerry had an epiphany: “I know! It means there will be heavy fog soon!”

The girls at the next table were amused by him.

Do you think this is a weather forecast?!

Right until the end of class, Jerry was still bothered, saying there would definitely be heavy fog in the next few days.

Ron shrugged it off, “Give up. This thing requires heredity, talent. Either your ancestors were seers or diviners, or you truly have a knack for it…”

“Like Ted?”

“Maybe!”

Ted had previously used a fire crab shell (turtle shell) with three coins inside to divine the lost pet of a Gryffindor girl, and they really found it in the approximate location he indicated!

Now everyone was saying Ted might have a talent for divination!

This even reached the ears of Trelawney, who didn’t interact much with people.

She really couldn’t stand hearing such talk.

The burden on her was too heavy; she even had to rely on acting, pretending to be mystical, and feigning madness to maintain her image as a great seer.

She barely dared to interact with colleagues, and was almost never seen at the professors’ table during meals.

The immense pressure had led her to alcoholism, leaving her perpetually tipsy.

In short, she had sacrificed too much for this profession.

And now, a third-year little wizard, who had been exposed to divination for less than two months, was being said to have the talent of a diviner.

This was practically grabbing at her heart!

Grabbing it and scratching it fiercely.

She felt she had to do something!

So, when class ended, Ted was asked to stay behind.

“Epiphany, please stay for a moment, we need to talk…” Trelawney’s expression was a little agitated, and a little anxious.

She herself felt guilty, and also a bit jealous and angry; in short, it was extremely complex.

“Alright, Professor.”

Everyone left. Hermione gave Ted a look as she departed: Be careful, run if you have to!

Ted smiled and nodded.

Trelawney’s thoughts were as active as monkeys dancing before him; it was hard not to notice.

He could understand her behavior.

However, he had no intention of comforting her.

“Uh… that…” Trelawney also seemed a little unsure how to begin.

Ted smiled and said, “Professor, are you going to say I have a talent for divination? My classmates are just joking. Some even say I have the talent of a Dark Lord!”

Trelawney quickly lowered her head and pushed up her glasses. She hadn’t expected her thoughts to be seen through. “Oh, yes, yes.”

Ted rolled his eyes. I’m making fun of myself as a Dark Lord, and what are you doing here?!

Facing this handsome young man, who was now no shorter than herself, Trelawney suddenly didn’t know what to say.

“You, you must know that divination and prophecy require talent, it’s not… not just anyone can go far on this path. So, so you must study hard, understand?”

Trelawney didn’t even know what she was saying. Why was she encouraging him?

Shouldn’t she be sternly reminding him not to harbor unrealistic ambitions and waste time in this field?

Ted smiled: “Alright, Professor, I understand. Defense Against the Dark Arts is about to start, so if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going.”

“Oh, oh, alright.”

Ted lifted his leg to walk out, then suddenly felt something was wrong.

He turned back to find Trelawney sitting rigidly in her chair, her pupils dilated, her entire body taut in an indescribable posture.

“Professor! Professor, what’s wrong? Are you alright?” Ted didn’t even dare to reach out and touch her.

Holy crap! You’re not trying to fake an injury, are you?

Professor Trelawney’s pupils had dilated to their maximum, and a rapid string of words poured from her mouth: “Darkness! Death! Is approaching! Stop him, stop him, he is coming!”

Ted was stunned and immediately became serious: “Who? Who are you saying is coming? When?!”

“Huh? Epiphany, what did you say? Weren’t you going to Defense Against the Dark Arts class?” At this moment, Trelawney actually returned to normal.

Damn it!

Ted frowned slightly, “Professor, do you remember what you just said?”

“What? I said: Oh, alright.”

“Not that sentence!”

“Not that sentence?”

“You said: Darkness! Death! Is approaching! Stop him, stop him, he is coming!”

Ted imitated her too perfectly, not just the tone and speed, but even the timbre of her voice.

Hearing her own voice suddenly come from Ted’s mouth, Trelawney jumped.

Then she was startled by the content!

“I said that?!”

“Yes!”

“I have no memory! I don’t remember at all!”

“I know, don’t worry. Sit down first.” Ted briefly comforted her.

His mental powers quickly calmed the somewhat flustered Trelawney.

“Professor, you have a talent for prophecy. Do you know that?”

“Really?”

Trelawney immediately beamed with joy, but then quickly realized something was off: “Oh, I mean, of course, I’m the Divination professor.”

Ted turned his face away, composing his expression, “I mean, you truly have a talent for prophecy. Do you remember why Dumbledore hired you as the Divination professor?”

Trelawney fell into thought, and Ted guided her with words: “Remember? At night, the Hog’s Head Inn, you and Dumbledore, dim candlelight… He didn’t want to hire you as a professor; in fact, he wanted to cancel the class altogether. But you suddenly made a prophecy…”

Trelawney’s consciousness began to wander through past memories, but she truly couldn’t remember; Ted could see that this short segment of her memory was blank.

Her ability was such that she was unconscious during a prophecy and would have no memory of it.

“Alright, Professor, we’ll talk more later. About this new prophecy. Now I have to go to class…”

After Ted left, Trelawney was both scared and happy!

Death is approaching!

So Dumbledore wasn’t just pitying me! I really do have a talent for prophecy!

The burden of years on her mind suddenly lifted, and she felt completely relieved…
