Chapter 202: Wands Choose Their Wizards, a Wonderful Coincidence~

Ted and Hermione were waiting for their friends at the ice cream parlor in Diagon Alley. Soon, Harry and Neville arrived, and they all ate ice cream while waiting for Ron.

They had agreed to go buy wands together today.

After waiting for half an hour, Ron finally showed up. He was followed by the twins and Ginny!

Ron shrugged, pouting his lips. “I couldn’t help it, guys. They insisted on coming shopping.”

“Come on, have a seat!” Ted waved for everyone to sit down.

The twins squeezed in next to Ted. George whispered, “We need to talk to you!”

Fred: “You have to know about this!”

Ted smacked his lips. “I hope it’s good news.”

“Of course it is! Our news is always good~”

Ted: Our definitions of “good news” might be different~

Ginny, meanwhile, sat next to Harry and Hermione, her eyes occasionally glancing at Neville.

Neville: I sense danger?!

“Ugh~” Ron suddenly let out a cry of disgust.

“What’s wrong with you?” Neville quickly asked.

Ron pointed at the ice cream in his hand, from which he’d just taken a large bite. “Th-this… it’s poisoned!”

It turned out to be a small activity by the ice cream shop owner, Florean Fortescue, called “Who’s the Lucky One~”.

Out of a hundred taro-flavored ice creams, one was eggplant-flavored.

Clearly, Ron was the lucky one.

The ice cream shop owner, Florean Fortescue, was about forty years old, a nice and humorous man. He even rewarded Ron, the lucky one, with three random-flavored ice creams.

He had developed a new type of ice cream, inspired by Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans, hoping to bring more surprises to the consumers.

Ron said, “Do you think we’re still first-year kids? Still interested in something like Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans? This just proves that multi-flavored ice cream is not delicious at all!” Ron said, while shoveling it down with a loud clatter.

Ron: I’m gonna eat, eat, eat, eat, eat.Gif

With everyone assembled, it was time to get down to business: going to Ollivanders to buy wands.

A large group of them marched over, attracting quite a bit of attention along the way.

After all, with the small population of the wizarding world, it wasn’t every day you saw so many young wizards shopping together.

Pushing open the door to Ollivanders, the bell above the door jingled automatically.

Ollivander, hearing the sound, slowly emerged from behind the shelves in the back room, appearing as if out of nowhere without a sound. He looked up and was startled—why were there so many people? Were they here for after-sales service?!

However, Neville and Ron were even more nervous than he was.

Although they were about to start their third year, this was their first time at Ollivanders, their first time buying wands, and they felt quite uneasy.

Ted took the initiative to greet him. “Hello, Mr. Ollivander.”

Ollivander glanced at the wand at his waist. “Oh, a cedar wood and phoenix feather wand, ten and three-quarter inches… Mr. Ted Epiphany! I’ve heard you’ve done quite a few good deeds at school. Is your wand doing well?”

“It’s me. My wand is excellent, very handy.” Ted suspected he had a register recording every wand he had sold.

“Sir, these two need to buy wands this time,” Ted said, pointing to Neville and Ron.

“Oh, you don’t look like first-years?” Ollivander looked at them suspiciously.

Neville was already one meter seventy-four, tall and well-built.

To be honest, if he hadn’t looked so kind, Ollivander might have been “concerned about school bullying.JPG”!

Although Ron wasn’t as tall as Neville, he ate a lot and developed early, making him look like a fourth or fifth-year student.

Their presence to buy wands made Ollivander a little uncomfortable.

“They’ve been using their family’s wands until now, but they need to buy their own,” Ted explained.

Ted’s voice was convincing, and Ollivander easily believed him, nodding. “Alright!”

However, he also had his own pride. He said softly, “Our wands aren’t bought, they’re chosen. Wands choose their wizards; it’s destiny… For just a few Galleons, you can try.”

Ted and his friends were momentarily stunned, then nodded in agreement: The master’s character is noble!

Next, it was Neville and Ron’s turn.

Ron was pushed to the front by Neville. Not being as strong as Neville, Ron had to accept his fate and go first.

“Try this one…” Ollivander waved his wand, and a pile of boxes flew over.

Ron took the first wand, and it immediately emitted a puff of smoke. His friends, once bitten, twice shy, seeing this familiar scene, immediately cast Bubble-Head Charms on their heads.

It turned out to be just an ordinary puff of black smoke… This scene left Ollivander dumbfounded, wondering if these children had post-war stress disorder. Why such a strong reaction?

After several selections, Ron finally found his wand.

Ollivander stroked the wand with satisfaction, a fated smile on his face. “The core is a heartstring from a Hebridean Black Dragon, powerful and resilient, adaptable to all situations. The body is from a Whomping Willow, especially effective against humanoid enemies. Oh, by the way! You know the Whomping Willow at Hogwarts, right? It’s that tree!”

Ron was stunned. “I know it very well!”

Ollivander said with a hint of regret, “Unfortunately, that tree was damaged by someone last year, and I haven’t been able to use its branches to make wands for the past two years. Do you know who did it?”

Ron replied calmly, “No idea, never heard of it!”

His friends were trying so hard to hold back their laughter that they were almost gasping for breath.

Ginny’s face was flushed as she bit her sleeve, trying to maintain her ladylike composure. The twins had already escaped the shop, and their laughter could be heard from outside the door.

Ted remembered that in the original story, Ron’s second wand should have been made of chestnut, with a unicorn hair core.

Chestnut is the most inquisitive type of wood. It has few inherent characteristics but is drawn to skilled magical beast trainers, wizards with great talent for Herbology, or natural flyers.

Unicorn hair is a very neutral core material, depending on the owner’s choice.

Now, Ron was more focused on the power of spells, so the core became a dragon heartstring. As for the Whomping Willow, it could only be called destiny.

In fact, Ron didn’t use this second wand until the end in the original story; he lost it during the great battle in his seventh year.

His final wand turned out to be Peter Pettigrew’s wand, whose core was also a dragon heartstring.

Now it was Neville’s turn.

Ollivander clearly recognized the Boy Who Lived. But he only gazed at him deeply for a moment, saying nothing, and prepared a large batch of boxes as before.

However, unlike Ron, Neville’s process was very difficult.

More than a dozen wands in a row were unsuitable, and he himself could feel the awkwardness.

Ollivander, however, was very calm about it, as if he had anticipated this moment.

“One moment,” he said. “I’ll be back in a little while.” With that, he walked towards the back door.

After two or three minutes, he returned, holding a light purple box, his expression quite solemn.

“I knew that one day it would find its owner. This is the arrangement of destiny!” He said, looking quite mystical.

Seeing his expression, his friends dared not be mischievous, watching with slight tension: Master, what does this mean now?

Ollivander opened the box and took out a wand, holding it in his hand and stroking it carefully.

“Holly wood, phoenix feather core, eleven inches long…” He silently handed the wand to Neville.

Neville took it with a strange expression, and brilliant blue magical light shimmered on the wand, rays of light swirling around him.

“Wow~” Ron’s mouth hung wide open on the side; he was jealous.

He hadn’t had such a grand display just now! Ollivander, why are you treating people differently based on who they are?!

The wandmaker Ollivander, while admiring the beautiful scene of wizard and wand uniting, explained earnestly, “I remember every wand I sell…”

Ted: Sell? Wasn’t it destiny?

Ollivander continued, “The core of this wand comes from the same phoenix as the core of another wand. The other one is a yew wood wand, the tree of death! They are brother wands. Its owner left that scar on your forehead…”

Neville, hearing this, solemnly touched the “S” scar on his forehead. “Then we truly are fated…”

Due to the mention of Voldemort, Neville’s spirits were low.

Hermione was dragged away by Harry to go shopping, bringing Ginny along.

The twins took the opportunity to pull Ted away, saying they had something to discuss with him, leaving Ron to accompany Neville.

Ron complained, “George and Fred must be Ted’s long-lost brothers; their relationship is much closer than mine.”

Ted, too, was curious. Why were they being so secretive? What was it they wanted to say?

Then, what George and Fred said startled Ted!

George: “We’ve awakened our Stand abilities!”

Ted: “Huh?!”
