Hogwarts Card System Chapter 160

Chapter 161: Easter Baron’s Transcendence~

“Ted, I want to take all the classes!” Hermione said with red eyes, looking like a red-eyed gambler.

Ted pulled her hand, making her sit down.

“Don’t be like this, Hermione. Didn’t I tell you that not all knowledge needs to be diligently pursued? Your choice is too impulsive and completely unnecessary.”

Ted looked at Hermione: “Answer me, do you really think it’s necessary to take that Muggle Studies class?”

“I…” Hermione still wanted to be stubborn, but after seeing Ted’s eyes, she felt a little guilty.

She knew that lying in front of Ted was impossible. Just like Snape, Ted could see through lies at a glance.

Ted continued to persuade: “You’ve seen that borrowed Muggle Studies textbook. Anyone who’s been to elementary school would be too lazy to even glance at it. It’s all very superficial common sense, and it’s common sense from almost twenty years ago. I really suggest they update their textbooks promptly.”

Hermione had to admit that Ted was absolutely right. The knowledge points about Muggles written in that textbook were indeed a bit too childish.

It was as ridiculous as those from Taiwan researching whether we can afford tea eggs, or South Koreans asking if we have mobile phones.

When Hermione first read it, she felt her intelligence was insulted.

She couldn’t help but feel that this course was quite idiotic!

“And Divination and Arithmancy, do you believe them?” Ted added another blow.

“Hmm, I believe a little bit…” Hermione whispered.

Believing a little bit probably meant believing in horoscopes and fortune-telling.

Although it might seem counter-intuitive for a wizard not to believe in divination, in fact, many wizards in the magical world don’t.

Because accurate divination is actually a very, very, very rare thing.

For example, the author of the famous Unfogging the Future, she is already the most famous Diviner in the past hundred years, but she can only divine very little, and often the results are ambiguous.

Only after you experience it can you reverse-engineer it to match.

Even then, only a few wizards in a hundred years could do that.

Divination class only teaches some common sense about divination, serving as an introduction.

It’s not really about teaching young wizards to learn divination, because it relies too much on talent.

This rare talent is usually inherited. If there was a famous Diviner or Seer in the ancestry, then a descendant might appear with this ability after several or a dozen generations.

Not to mention Hermione, a rational wizard, who naturally has some aversion to intangible divination.

In fact, Dumbledore also didn’t believe in divination.

That’s right, he didn’t believe it!

His old paramour was an outstanding Seer who could see glimpses of the future. Those sea-blue eyes could see fragments of what was to come, which was why Grindelwald decided to embark on a path of change at a young age.

But it was precisely because of this that Dumbledore didn’t believe in any divination or prophecies. Because Grindelwald also failed!

He could only see fragments, and some things became reality precisely because he saw certain fragments of the future, which then led to their fulfillment.

After experiencing Voldemort’s rise and fall, and being unexpectedly defeated by the Boy Who Lived, Dumbledore became even more convinced of the idea that “humans choose their destiny.”

It was precisely because Voldemort learned of the prophecy, and half-believing it, chose to take precautions, then chose Neville, and was finally defeated by Neville.

If Voldemort had scoffed at prophecies back then, none of the subsequent events would have happened.

Now, all of Dumbledore’s schemes are actually aimed at strengthening Voldemort’s belief in the prophecy.

As long as he continues to believe that prophecy, he will inevitably be defeated by Neville.

Getting back to Hermione, regarding course selection, Ted suggested that she could try them all first, and then finally decide which courses to take.

Ted also wanted to take this opportunity to sound out Professor McGonagall about that “time-turner” that could reverse time, and see if he could touch it~

I’ll just touch it, I definitely won’t take it!

Ted said: “Tomorrow is Easter. We’ll choose courses after the holiday. Relax, there’s plenty of time~”

Easter isn’t a major holiday, but it’s a rare day off.

The young wizards were thrilled.

This year has been eventful, with two Chamber of Secrets openings making everyone nervous.

Lockhart also successively organized the Duelling Club and the Valentine’s Day lethal dwarves, almost sending the young wizards away. Now they could finally relax.

The day before, students from various houses (even some third-year Slytherins and that Rosier from the same year) approached Ted, wanting him to organize something to liven up the atmosphere.

That Valentine’s Day event was simply wonderful! It was truly memorable!

Young wizards: “One more! One more!”

Ted readily agreed. First, he communicated with the house-elves in the kitchen, discussed the menu, and settled on a lavish twelve-course meal.

He also contacted some Hufflepuff students to help in the kitchen and learn some cooking tricks.

House-elves: “You offended the Headmaster and still want to leave? Learn in the school kitchen for ten years first!” (Shaolin Eighteen Bronze Men.jpg)

Then he discussed with the house representatives that everyone should perform one or two acts. He couldn’t always be the only one singing! It wasn’t conducive to unity~

On Easter Day, because it was a holiday, the Great Hall was continuously bustling with people from lunchtime onwards.

Long tables were placed against the walls, not hindering dining, and leaving a large open space in the middle—many young wizards were learning to dance there.

After Valentine’s Day, the atmosphere for learning dance suddenly heated up in the school. Some boys and girls danced together with blushing faces, occasionally stepping on each other’s feet, causing laughter from onlookers, which was quite a sight.

But isn’t it a bit early?

Although Caucasians develop earlier and the West is more open, isn’t it too early to start learning ballroom dancing at twelve or thirteen years old?

(What? I still can’t dance? Oh, never mind then. You guys continue, I won’t disturb you.)

By evening, before the sun had completely set, the students had all arrived.

Many even came in strange costumes because of the limited number of transforming candies. One might have thought it was a costume ball.

Ted waved his hand, and small colorful lights hung up.

With another wave, dragon fireworks… oh, sorry, wrong one. He conjured exploding boars, immediately scaring several young wizards to fall to the ground and clear the way for the boars. It wasn’t until the boars hit the wall and disappeared that everyone realized they were fake, and a burst of laughter erupted.

Before the feast began, two acts warmed up the atmosphere.

Gryffindor had a quartet performance~ Yes, it was Harry, Neville, and the others.

Ron finally realized his dream of being an artistic youth, though his singing was faltering and off-key—four people, five different tunes. They sang on stage while the audience laughed below. One might have thought it was a group stand-up comedy act.

But it was all about the atmosphere.

After that, others went up with their own instruments, from flutes to violins. Some had artistic talent, but more didn’t—several sounded like they were plucking cotton.

In a trance, it felt like hearing the loudspeaker of a junk collector downstairs~

Soon, the banquet began, time to eat!

Twelve grand dishes instantly appeared on the long tables, plates of all sizes filled to the brim!

The young wizards cheered and began to dine.

After about half an hour of eating, Ted went on stage for the final grand performance.

This time he wouldn’t sing. He would perform “Summer” by Joe Hisaishi for everyone~

After he finished playing, the applause was thunderous and well-received.

Ted also completed his holiday task for the day:

“Ding~ Completed task [Splendid Easter (Green)], rewarded 250 experience points, card [Moonlight Stone (Green)].”

[Moonlight Stone (Green)]

Item Card

Use: Draws a ray of moonlight to follow the target, making them shine brightly.

Lasts 3 minutes, 1-hour cooldown.

Note: All eyes on me, I have an announcement to make~

This is a magical stage spotlight! Do they really want me to be a big star in the wizarding world?!

The Easter feast concluded perfectly. Everyone was full, tired from playing, and returned to their dorms to sleep.

Just as Ted and his friends were heading back to the Ravenclaw tower, they were surprisingly stopped by a ghost.

A Ravenclaw student recognized him; this ghost, covered in silver-white bloodstains, was the Bloody Baron, the Slytherin House ghost!

It was said that he held great authority; not only were Slytherin students afraid of him, but even Peeves was a little scared of him.

Before the Whipping Charm came into being, professors often couldn’t stop Peeves’ pranks, and could only use the Bloody Baron’s name to scare Peeves away.

Now he stood in front of Ted, staring at him.

Ted asked curiously, “Mr. Baron, do you need something?”

It took Baron several seconds to seem to react, then he asked, “Where is Helena?”

Ted frowned slightly.

The Ravenclaw students behind him immediately started whispering.

“Who’s Helena?”

“Never heard of her.”

Seeing this, Baron asked, “The one you call the Grey Lady, where is she?”

The whispering behind him grew even louder.

“The Grey Lady! That’s right! I haven’t seen her in a long time.”

“Why is the Bloody Baron asking Ted?”

“Does Ted know where the Grey Lady went?”

Ted, seeing the situation, whispered, “You should know, she has calmly faced her past and chosen to move on.”

Baron was stunned for a long time, his expression very strange, a mix of crying and laughing, “Did… did she mention me when she left?”

Ted slowly shook his head: What kind of role do you play, do you not know? It’s good enough that Helena didn’t seek revenge on you.

But Baron seemed to have understood something, and suddenly burst into laughter: “She didn’t mention me. She has forgotten me. I understand! I understand!” He shouted and yelled, which was very frightening.

Ted wanted to go up and slap him: You beast, what do you understand?

But Baron floated up, his whole body glowing, biu~ and disappeared!

Now it was Ted’s turn to be stunned—he had seen this scene before!

Baron had actually transcended in plain sight!

Holy cow! Are you messing with me?!

Ted looked around and found everyone staring at him with a strange, astonished gaze…
