Chapter 137: Technological Breakthroughs Brought by House-Elves~

The long-tailed thieving monkey, sentenced to life imprisonment for theft, ultimately couldn’t escape its fate. It was fed the magical spring water Ted created using the Aguamenti spell.

Well, it was okay, quite palatable.

I mean, the monkey didn’t die, and the water indeed had the effect of restoring magic.

Ted now understood.

Most of the mice that died before did so because they weren’t magical creatures and thus had no magic within them. Their bodies couldn’t adapt to the sudden influx of magic in a short time.

The magic affected their bodies in a chaotic and random way, and they died because they couldn’t adapt to the severe impact.

The last white mouse, which survived five rounds of experiments completely unharmed and even more lively, was the lucky one.

This was a low-probability event—it adapted to the sudden magic in its body, and after multiple feedings from Ted, its body underwent a beneficial mutation, actually becoming a magical creature!

Yes, Ted detected a very faint magical presence within it.

This wasn’t residual magic from the fed spring water, as such external magic dissipates quickly.

Based on the knowledge of magical creature bloodlines and modification Ted inherited from Professor Quirrell, this little mouse had truly developed its own magic within its body!

Good heavens, talk about an unexpected success.

The first time Professor Quirrell “created” a magical creature was seven years after his graduation, after hundreds of large and small experiments.

Ted, on the other hand, just by feeding water, managed to create a new type of magical mouse~

Ted brought the magical white mouse to the window: “You’re lucky; I hope your luck continues. Alright, you’re free now~” Ted casually tossed the white mouse out the window.

The long-tailed thieving monkey in the iron cage gripped the bars, gazing out the window in a daze, looking at Ted with an incredibly hopeful expression, wishing it could also be free.

Ted: “You’ll have to wait a bit; you still have a very important task!”

Long-tailed thieving monkey: Can you just give me a quick death?!

What Ted didn’t expect was that the magical white mouse, after spending a night outside, actually returned on its own the next day?

You’re addicted, aren’t you?

Since the Food-Creation Spell hadn’t progressed for several consecutive days, Ted decided to relax.

It wasn’t good to push himself so hard. It was like when a writer has writer’s block, they might go out for some inspiration—I mean, have a good meal!

So, why not have a good meal and reward himself?

Forcing it wasn’t a solution. If it didn’t work, he could change his focus and research the Food-Creation Spell later when he had more comprehensive knowledge.

At least he had succeeded in creating magical spring water, which was a huge breakthrough.

So, he decided to visit the kitchen and also sent a paper crane to Hermione.

Hermione arrived in the common room and asked curiously, “Why the sudden trip to the kitchen?”

Ted said, “During the holidays, I got some recipes from other magical communities around the world. Some of them are exceptionally well-written, so I thought we could go to the kitchen and see if the house-elves can replicate them.”

Ted often lectured the young wizards in the Great Hall about “A Bite of the Magical World,” talking about the distant Eastern magical world, where some wizards dedicated to gastronomy researched magnificent magical delicacies.

They were so amazing that when you lifted the cover, they’d glow and a divine dragon would fly out, eating one would make your clothes burst, and a group of girls would dance in your mind, making you cry involuntarily and think of your mother, truly inspiring!

Countless young wizards had secretly set their sights on traveling to the East after graduation!

They had to find that mysterious gourmet world and help the Divine Dragon Chef defeat the evil Dark Cuisine Realm.

Hermione, naturally, was deeply influenced by Ted, so she was immediately intrigued when she heard this.

The two eagerly rushed to the underground kitchen—the term “underground kitchen” sounded similar to the Shaolin Temple kitchen, instantly adding a touch of mystery!

He tickled the pear portrait, and the door opened.

As soon as the house-elves saw Ted, a large group immediately rushed forward, forming a circle, watching tearfully.

Ted quickly reassured them: “Hello, little elves~”

“You all keep busy; don’t let me interrupt your work. I’m mainly here to try out some new recipes. Are there any elves who aren’t busy who could lend a hand?” Ted asked.

“Me, me, me, me!”

Several house-elves who weren’t busy immediately raised their hands.

Ted led these elves to one side, “Which of you is good at making drinks? Can you make me a glass of mint lemonade?”

“I can! I’m best at making drinks!” a house-elf volunteered.

Last year, Ted had already tried some recipes in the kitchen, especially the simplest mint lemonade. Several house-elves were very perceptive and had already learned it.

However, since it was already June and close to the final exams, Ted didn’t have more time to try out recipes.

Soon, two glasses of pale green, ice-cold water with mint leaves and lemon slices were placed before Ted and Hermione.

Hermione picked hers up curiously and took a sip: “Mmm~ It’s delicious! (Loudly!)”

Ted: Very spirited~

Hermione found that after taking a sip of the drink, she instantly felt energized.

This feeling was somewhat like being imbued with Arcane Intellect!

It had taken Hermione several months to learn this spell, which increased intelligence and mental attributes. It was so useful. She cast it twice a day.

And now, this drink had a similar effect.

If she had a stat panel, she would see a “+ 1 Spirit” effect.

Compared to last year, Ted now had more knowledge of cat food, making him increasingly unstoppable in the culinary field.

Ted clapped his hands: “Let’s try some Eastern cuisine first, shall we? This first dish is called Mu Xu Tomato, cough, I mean scrambled eggs with tomatoes. Have any of you ever made stir-fry…”

Ted and Hermione spent over three hours in the kitchen, replicating five Eastern dishes.

Then Ted also took out his Redridge Stew from his Azeroth cookbook and tried it.

Well, it was half successful, in every sense.

In terms of taste, it was halfway there, no different from regular stew. In terms of effect, it only gave “+ 1 Stamina,” so it definitely didn’t fully realize its potential. More effort was needed!

Ted had already entrusted the elves to continue experimenting. Anyway, Hogwarts had plenty of ingredients; use them! Use them generously!

Over the next few days, Ted and the house-elves replicated many Eastern recipes and successfully “created” several magical delicacies.

They were truly dishes that had special effects!

Although they hadn’t managed to make dishes that would make clothes burst off yet, they had already created dishes that glowed when the lid was lifted!

Ted: That’s right, I added a Lumos Charm~ I’ll put a few dragons in the dish covers later.

They also made several portions of cat food, which Hermione, the house-elves, and Mrs. Norris absolutely loved.

They had various effects, such as maintaining body temperature, restoring stamina, and soothing the mind.

Of course, we sincerely appeal here: owls are wizards’ good friends; please do not eat round-faced fat chickens.

Through the process of developing dishes with the house-elves, Ted suddenly realized something he hadn’t considered before: magic outside the wizarding system!

Although house-elves and Gringotts goblins aren’t supposed to use wands, they actually can. However, they can also use magic without wands, and it’s a different system of magic from wizards.

For example, Apparition is forbidden at Hogwarts, but house-elves can do it.

And the wizards’ “Anti-Apparition Charm” can’t restrict house-elves’ Apparition because, although the effect is the same, it’s fundamentally a different system of magic!

Similarly, goblins have their own magical system. Even centaurs have their own stargazing and plant-based magic.

Ted thought, since he couldn’t find help from the wizarding magic system, could he leverage the house-elves’ magic system?

House-elves’ proficiency in household magic was unparalleled, almost instinctual.

And making food was the same.

They could crack and replicate Ted’s magical food recipes in just a few days, which was incredibly impressive.

So, Ted consulted them about their views on conjuring food…

“Excellent! It’s been five hours, and all five little mice are safe and sound.” Ted was overjoyed.

Then he looked at the long-tailed thieving monkey in the cage…

Long-tailed thieving monkey: Don’t come near me!

During this time, it had gotten fat.

Long-tailed thieving monkey: Please let me go, I really can’t eat anymore!

At dinner that day, Jerry chattered excitedly to his friends about his and Neville’s encounter.

Last night, on their way back from getting food from the kitchen, they met Nearly Headless Nick.

As the Gryffindor house ghost, he was quite familiar with Neville and his friends. Especially since Jerry and Neville often went out at night and would be spotted by him. He usually enjoyed it and even gave them directions.

Nearly Headless Nick was also very happy to see the two of them and immediately invited them to his 500th Deathday Party the following night.

Fortunately, Jerry was there and used the excuse of having plans with friends for Halloween night to politely decline.

Otherwise, given Neville’s inability to refuse, he would definitely have agreed to attend the Deathday Party.

Jerry had been starving for two days for this holiday feast; no one was going to make him leave the Great Hall.

Harry, however, was quite interested in a party attended only by ghosts: “Actually, there’s no harm in going to see. I don’t know what a Deathday Party is like!”

Ted: I know you’re in a hurry, but don’t rush. Once you’re dead, you can have a Deathday Party every year~

At this moment, Hermione looked at Ted: “Tomorrow is Halloween Eve again~”

She remembered what Ted had said last year: something always happened at Hogwarts on Halloween.

Ted winked at Hermione: Just you wait~

This chapter was written half a month ago, who knew this would happen, and I’d be called a fan of Xiaoguo.

I’m just unlucky.

School leaders always said that during sports days before, who knew it’s illegal now. Change it, quickly, don’t get into trouble.
