## Chapter 105: Hatching an Egg and the Crystallized Servant, Parker

Remember last Christmas, when Ted discovered the Ravenclaw Chamber of Secrets?

At that time, a quest reward was a card: [Rhea’s Last Egg (Purple)].

This was an egg from an Azeroth Red Dragon. If it could be hatched, that would be an incredible feat.

This wasn’t like the Norwegian Ridgeback Hagrid hatched.

Dragons in this world are called Fire Dragons. If placed in a world similar to Azeroth or D&D, they would only be considered a type of dragonkin.

They have low intelligence and cannot speak; their strength is poor, and they can’t even use magic; not to mention transforming into other humanoid races or living for thousands of years.

Ted had previously looked into the conditions required for hatching it, and there were too many high-end materials needed.

He even thought he wouldn’t be able to gather them all before graduation.

But unexpectedly, he unexpectedly acquired two in the past few days—Terra Magisilite Ore and High-Strength Magical Creature Fossil.

The former is a silver ore called Terra, which has transformed under magical contamination in a specific environment.

Because it was still in its ore state and hadn’t been extracted, only goblins skilled in metallurgy and forging magical metals recognized it.

A wizard sold some items to a second-hand shop, but they didn’t accept this one, and it was intercepted by Ted’s Salted Fish Net.

The latter is a fossil of an ancient canine magical creature. After its death, under specific conditions, magic converged on a certain bone, becoming a fossil over many years. This item is rare and mostly useless.

It was picked up by a young wizard who hadn’t yet enrolled and was playing with it. His mother was about to throw it away. However, upon discovering its hard texture, she listed it as a free gift with other second-hand goods on the Salted Fish Net.

In short, both items were very cheap. The sellers didn’t even know what they were, so they were bundled and sold for less than half a Galleon combined!

The wizard mother even just traded it for a Muggle toy car for her son!

This was undoubtedly a steal!

Ted: I knew it! How can a protagonist not get a good deal? Is that even a protagonist if they don’t?

Ted received the two materials and immediately got excited. But it wasn’t that simple, after all.

To hatch this red dragon egg, forty types of magical materials alone were needed, along with sufficient magic and temperature.

Among them, the sixteen materials circulating on the market were very expensive. Even if he could buy them, it would cost two or three thousand Galleons.

As for the twenty-four materials not seen on the market, even Mr. Giggs had only heard of a few of them, and some he hadn’t even heard of, making it even harder to know what to do.

Now, he could only hope that the Salted Fish Net would grow large enough to find the materials through its platform’s big data.

Since hatching the dragon egg was temporarily unrealistic, it was time to return to the original plan—hatching the Crystallized Servant!

When Ted first became a Psion, he had an ability that hadn’t been activated yet: the Crystallized Servant.

This was a unique ability of Psions, replicating a part of their mind into a crystal, giving it sentience to serve as their assistant.

This was similar to a wizard’s familiar or a ranger’s animal companion, both being very helpful.

Now, the quest reward material card [Magic-Patterned Amethyst (Blue)] was very suitable, so he naturally had to hatch the Crystallized Servant first.

That day, after Jerry went to work at the apothecary, Ted went to the Leaky Cauldron’s basement.

This place had basically become Ted and Jerry’s secret holiday base, where much of their magic practice took place.

The basement hadn’t been cleaned for several years. Ted gained the right to use it before the start of term, in exchange for cleaning it up and disposing of its second-hand items.

He focused his attention on the [Magic-Patterned Amethyst (Blue)] card in his mind.

The next second, a pale purple crystal with red, spiderweb-like patterns inside appeared in his hand.

It was about the size of a goose egg, a multifaceted crystalline column, purple with dark red magical patterns, looking very beautiful.

Ted could feel a special kind of magic contained within the crystal. This thing would definitely be a good material for making magical items.

Ted placed it on the table, cupped his hands over it, closed his eyes, and concentrated.

Many of a Psion’s abilities are very convenient. While they don’t have as many variations as magic, they excel in being effortless.

So, there was no need for ritual magic or magic circles.

In the empty basement, spanning over a hundred square meters, a gentle breeze suddenly appeared, followed by strange, crisp clinking sounds. The table began to vibrate slightly, and a faint light emanated from Ted’s hands.

After about three minutes, Ted opened his eyes and spread his hands, looking at the crystal on the table, which seemed unchanged.

“Did it fail?” He was a bit uncertain.

“Haha! Just kidding, it succeeded~”

The magic crystal suddenly grew six spider-like legs, then scurried around the table in circles, looking overly excited.

“Woohoo~ I’m born~” It had no mouth, but it could produce sound by vibrating the air.

“Stop, stop, stop!” Ted quickly curbed its agitation, afraid it might accidentally fall and shatter.

The Crystallized Servant was obedient and immediately stopped, coming obediently before Ted.

“My dear master, what are your commands~” It sounded a bit slick.

“So, I succeeded. You are my Crystallized Servant?” Ted asked.

“Undoubtedly! I am your Crystallized Servant, a part of you, a limb not connected to your body, a remote hand, a tireless eye…” It prattled on, a real chatterbox.

“Alright, alright, I get it, no need to continue. You have quite a vocabulary.” Ted had a bit of a headache; it wasn’t quite what he imagined.

Am I not a very serious and reliable person? Which part of me did this Crystallized Servant inherit?

The Crystallized Servant wiggled, “Thank you for the compliment, thanks to you~”

“So, do you have a name?”

“You’ll have to give me one~”

“Then… Golden Brand Master?”

“Perhaps you could think again?”

“Alright, seeing your red spiderweb patterns, I’ll call you Parker!”

“Yes, Master! Parker has a name~”

Ted gained tangible benefits from hatching the Crystallized Servant.

The direct manifestation in his attributes was: + 2 Intelligence, + 2 Wisdom, + 3 Spirit.

It could also serve as Ted’s extra psionic reserve, increasing Ted’s psionic capacity by 20%.

This was a considerable gain.

Mainly, the materials Ted used to hatch the Crystallized Servant were excellent, which made Parker’s abilities much stronger and gave Ted much more feedback.

The Crystallized Servant’s role for a Psion was immense, equivalent to an external processor.

Ted could even use psionic abilities remotely through it, much more conveniently than with Ansu.

And its own abilities were good too; it could use a portion of Ted’s psionic abilities.

If Ted’s Psion level increased, it could even learn to fly or even teleport.

Ted later thought that this thing was very similar to Ravenclaw’s mind magic, both involving cutting and replicating a part of one’s mind to create a “quasi-doppelganger.”

It’s a pity that Ravenclaw died prematurely, and the number of wizards was scarce. For a thousand years thereafter, no one pursued this path, or rather, reached this stage.

The development of the Salted Fish Net was very smooth. Wizards had accumulated too much second-hand junk, and almost every day, dozens to hundreds of items were listed, with twenty to thirty transactions usually occurring.

Sometimes wizards would list items they no longer needed, sometimes they would buy something useful they found, and sometimes they would leave a request for something they couldn’t find.

Many people also used the Salted Fish Net for bartering. In these cases, Ted usually acted as an intermediary guarantor—he would appraise items, provide information, and ensure the information was correct.

As for whether the transaction happened, he didn’t care; he only charged an appraisal fee.

The first week of the holiday passed quickly. Today, Jerry went home for his day off, and Ted also posted a message on the Salted Fish Net—giving the Salted Fish a day off.

Jerry had two part-time jobs, earning just under two Galleons a week.

Ted, relying on the Salted Fish Net, also earned about 11 Galleons—the platform fees were extremely low, mainly from appraisal fees.

In these past few days, Ted’s reputation for appraising items had spread slightly. Some wizards who weren’t familiar with their own items would try their luck and ask Ted to appraise them.

On this day off, Ted holed up in the Leaky Cauldron’s basement, studying magic, mainly D&D world magic. Azeroth’s combat spells were too destructive; he could accidentally level the Leaky Cauldron.

When Ted was at school, he had once tried to research Firestorm.

The results were very bad.

His first attempt after two days of research failed, almost setting the abandoned classroom on fire.

Fortunately, he had used a Silencing Charm to seal the classroom, otherwise, it would have caused a huge incident.

He used over a dozen Aguamenti and Freezing Charms to extinguish the fire. Then he used over thirty Reparo spells to restore the classroom to its original state.

This immediately sobered up the somewhat overconfident Ted.

For him, with an incomplete theoretical foundation, inadequate magical control, and insufficient spell levels, some high-end and dangerous magic could not be researched.

If he couldn’t learn it, so be it; don’t get himself killed!

So in the basement, he only learned magic with little lethality or destructive power.

When he got tired of studying, he would reply to his friends’ letters.

A week had passed, and almost all his friends had written back.

Hermione’s letter was written neatly, like regular script, describing how boring and dull life was without being able to research or use magic.

Ron’s letter was a bit messy, like cursive, with two words often connected. He complained that George and Fred had packed up all the junk at home and blamed Ted for not telling him about the Salted Fish Net first.

Neville’s letter was written with some difficulty, with many corrections. He was indecisive about many things, very hesitant, and missed school, looking forward to the new term.

Hagrid also wrote back. His letter, how to describe it? It was like chicken scratch! Ted could only understand a third of it! It seemed to say that Fluffy the three-headed dog had been sent back to Greece by Dumbledore.

As for Harry, she didn’t send many letters, because she was a shopping enthusiast and often wandered around the shops in Diagon Alley. In just this week, Ted and Jerry had seen her four times!

The next day marked the new month.

On July 1st, as soon as Ted opened his eyes, the system prompted: “Ding~ Talent [Otherworldly Knowledge (Gold)] triggered…”
